People loveto chat on Facebook and you’ll be surprised by how many responseyou get to these types of questions.Be Authentic: Your business has a personality and you should showit. People love toenter contests! It doesn’t always have to be a big giveaway either. Justremember to follow the Facebook promotion rules. You’ll need to use anapp to facilitate the giveaway. I have listed my favorites in the Resourc-es section of this guide.Landing Tab: You’ll convert more “likes” if you have a landing tab.You can send people to a landing tab as opposed to sending them di-rectly to your wall. A custom landing tab gives people a reason to clicklike.Note: Due to the Facebook changes in early 2012, you can only directpeople to a landing tab, you cannot have people land here when theygo directly to your page. So to get people to land directly on a customlanding tab, send them to that tab from your website, an email or Face-book Ads.Opt-in Form: On your landing tab (or another tab) present an offer topeople that requires them to give you their email address to take ad-vantage of the offer. A bonus to having a Facebook page is building upyour email list!Keep people coming back to your page and spend more time there, by addinggreat features for your fans. They’ll be able to spend more time on your pageexploring all of your content. All of these options can be added as “Tabs” onyour Facebook page. Facebook apps are used to add tabs. I did this on my Face-book page so people know who is behind Idea Sprouts (me!)35FAQ: If you get a lot of questions about your business or products,consider adding an FAQ tab to your Facebook page.Recommendations: If your Facebook page is set up as a localbusiness, you can ask for recommendations from your fans. Here’s anarticle I wrote to show you how to set up your page to receive recom-mendations.31Sell Stuff: Do you sell products? Add an app for a store to sell yourproducts. Create a tab to tell them more about it.Contact Us: Give people an opportunity to contact you privately with-out going to your website.4546YouTube Channel: If you have a YouTube channel for your busi-ness, add a tab for it. All of your videos will appear and people cancomment on them within Facebook.Twitter: Create a tab with all of your latest tweets. I suggest this routeas opposed to having your tweets automatically post directly on yourFacebook wall. This image willalso be shown on your fans’ streams when you post something. So youwant this image to be recognizable and easy to decipher. You mustupload an image in the size of 180 x 180 pixels, but this image will onlyshow up as 160 x 160 pixels.About: Below the profile picture is a little space to put text. It’s prettylimited, so make good use of this about section. I suggest you includea link to your website at the end of this text. That way, if someone is onyour page and is interested in learning more about your business, theycan quickly click to visit your site.Cover Photo: The cover photo is the big image at the top of yourpage. The size of this image is 851 x 315 pixels. Facebook rules do notallow you to use this image to promote your business in any way. Thatmeans you can’t have your website, address, phone number or anymention of sales or free offers.Instead, take advantage of this space by adding an image that givespeople a sense of what your business is about. Take a look at theseexamples I like.When you set up your Page, you’re given space to add text about your businessand the opportunity to add unique images. Be sure to use this to your advan-tage. Some examples you may want to take a look at arethe U.S. Army and Coca-Cola.50 ideas were simply not enough . . . here’s one more!BONUS IDEAThe Importance of PhotosPhotos and other images are very important on your Facebook page.Typically, they get the most response from your fans – a lot of likes,shares and comments. Share images related to your business, of yourbusiness in action or every now and then, images that are inspiring orfunny.50Call to Action Images: To the bottom right of your cover photo,you’ll see small images. One is always there. It is a link to your photoalbums and it displays you latest photo you’ve added. The other 3 areavailable for your Facebook apps and you can add your own imagesfor them. This is a great opportunity for you to call people to action. Forinstance, have a custom tab that has a sign up for your email list. I’ve written a guide on how to set up anduse the app. Use your phone to snap photos at events and share themimmediately on your Facebook page.Giveaways: Host a giveaway on your Facebook Page. You can buildup your Facebook likes and even add people to your email list. Here’ssome advice on how to have a successful Facebook giveaway.Call to Action Images: You can use Facebook Ads to generatemore likes, enter a giveaway or to send to a website off of Facebook. I choose to manually post my blog posts to add my own com-ments. But I do use the separate tab for showing my latest blog articles.North Social: With North Social, you pay a monthly fee to access nearly 20 dif-ferent apps. I do like their sweepstakes app and the price is very reasonable.Pagemodo: Free as well as paid templates for Facebook pages. I use their Con-tact Us tab on the Idea Sprouts Facebook page.Involver: Has a number of free apps for your Facebook page and of coursethey also have paid apps available. There are some great free apps includingones for adding tabs that feature your coupons, Twitter feed, YouTube channel,Google + page and Flickr photos.SocialBios: Create an About Me or About Us page on SocialBios and you canadd it as a tab on Facebook. This is a nice feature so fans can learn more aboutyou or the CEO of your company. I have it installed on the Idea Sprouts Face-book page.Booshaka: A free app that shows you and your fans who are the “Top Fans” -that is, the people who comment and contribute the most to your page.Woobox: Similar to North Social, this is a suite of apps that you pay to access allof the apps. They also have a free plan that gives you quite a lot. You can createa custom tab with a like gate, add a Pinterest tab with your Pinterest boards andeven have a coupon tab.GroSocial: If you want to add your own unique content to a tab, I recommendGroSocial. This app gives you a drag-and-drop builder that starts you off withnice looking templates that you can then add your own pictures, text and othercontent. They have a free 30-day trial so you can see if you like it.
