1. An Interview with Perry Jones
By Jack Evans, Resource Magazine, February 10, 2015
Jack: Hi Perry, thank you for being with us today.
Perry: Thank you Jack, my pleasure.
Jack: Perry, I know you have been interviewed several times in the recent past for your expertise in
passive income and with investments and real estate investing, I’m not going to do that.
Perry: Okay…
Jack: I want to get into what makes you you.
Perry: Not what I was expecting, but ok, I’m game.
Jack: Good. First question of three: What’s a quality or a value that you need to have in your life in
order to feel fulfilled?
Perry: Good question. Well. Honesty, respect, loyalty. But those are from other people. From within
myself – if that’s what you want –
Jack: Sure.
Perry: is - excitement. Yeah, excitement.
Jack: So, Perry, how do you know when excitement is present in what you are doing?
Perry: Well, it’s obvious. Everything is all, like lit up – fun, I feel happy, excited, alive, like I can do
anything and – I’m having fun and I don’t care about what I say or do – all the inhibitions are off
and I don’t care if anyone gets offended or takes offense about what I say or do. I just feel so alive
and in touch with the world and life and everyone around me.
Jack: Wow. That’s a lot, so you feel alive and connected?
Perry: Yes, like I could kick butt – and probably would (laughs).
Jack: Great. Ok, and that feeling of being alive and connected and kicking butt – that’s your core
value.
Perry: What is my core value?
Jack: From what you said I would have to say ‘being alive.’
2. Perry: Oh, okay, yeah that makes sense. I really like the feeling of being alive and being able to be
myself without hesitation or feeling like I need to restrain myself or restrict myself in some way
because I might offend someone. I just want to have fun. And excitement is how I get there.
Jack: “Fun” is also a repeat theme for you. So maybe it should be fun/excitement.
Perry: I think “fun” would have to be my core value, now that I think of it.
Jack: Good, that’s great. So ‘fun’ may be your core value.
Perry: Yeah.
Jack: Okay. So can you remember a time when you felt that sense of fun and excitement, how did it
make you feel inside?
Perry: Well, mm I like karaoke – because it’s a little crazy and outrageous. I don’t sing well, but I like
to have fun – and I’m with friends – and that’s always empowering.
Jack: So you get a sense of empowerment when you are having fun and you’re experiencing
excitement.
Perry: That sounds a little technical. But, yeah. Empowerment, fun, connection, friendship, maybe
even a little love – friends you know? But I feel like I’m a little more in love with the whole universe
in such moments.
Jack: In such moments - is there anything else you feel in such moments?
Perry: Well, I feel “in the moment” and like, well, I don’t know – connected, you know?
Jack: “In the moment” is good. It means you are present – “in the moment” and when you feel that
you are feeling “connected” to the world and friends.
Perry: Ha – yeah it does!
Jack: That’s rare, Perry. Most people have a habit of not living in the moment. They’re either living
in the future or the past..
Perry: That’s me too, but when I’m having fun – it’s all in the moment.
Jack: Thank you, Perry. That’s great. You like living in the moment and you get that feeling when
you’re having fun and you have fun when you’re feeling excited.
Perry: Wow! That’s a good psych-job! I wish my counselors knew me as well – or my girlfriends.
Jack: (laughs) That will be $100. So Perry, now you know what your primary motivation is. It’s not
money or wealth or fame, but it’s to have fun through excitement.
Perry: Now just to do it.
3. Jack: That’s the trick. Thank you Perry. This is Jack Evans from Resource Magazine. We have been
interviewing Perry Jones, Investment Advisor to the Kearsedge Boston Group near Boston,
Massachusetts. Thank you, Perry.
Perry: Thank you.
