Now on their 13th year as one of Philippines most prolific dance
groups, the Pilyoz Dancing Statues is set to embark on a new phase
of a journey that is Pioneering, Ingenious, Lavish, Youthful,
Outstanding, and Zany. Those aforementioned words best capture
the essence behind this one of a kind crew. And those same words
serve as their drive in further honing their expertise.
Pilyoz is not just a dance group, nor is it solely a bunch of
mime/statue performers. Pilyoz is a consummate performance
artist that incessantly evolves in order to efficiently cater to the
needs of even the most discerning of spectators. From virtual
unknown to known virtuoso, this group is continuously cementing
their mark in Pinoy Pop Culture both in stillness and in motion.
3. • Pioneering- Although living statue performers or mime artists have already been
part of Europe’s entertainment culture for as early as the 1940’s, it was only back
in 2003 when this unique art form reached the Philippine shore. That can be
credited to the emergence of Pilyoz who presented a novel kind of entertainment
for the Filipino audience.
• Ingenious- Aside from mime and living statue performances, Pilyoz also
showcases dance routines that incorporate traditional, modern, and novelty-
inspired choreography. Such flexibility in terms of skills only exemplifies the
group’s threshold when it comes to creativity.
• Lavish- In each performance, Pilyoz gives its audience a multi-sensory experience
through deft employment and blending of sounds, visuals, and emotions.
• Youthful- Pilyoz thrives in the dynamic nature of its members which creates a
collective energy that is both endearing and infectious.
• Outstanding- Every stint is a chance for the group to exemplify its commitment to
excellence; hence performances are given not merely out of obligation but more
importantly, out of passion.
• Zany- One distinct characteristic of Pilyoz is the group’s signature wacky antics.
They are, among other things, bona fide comedic talents that wish to impart the
gift of laughter to their audience.
4. GENESIS
Established back in March of 2003, the Pilyoz Dancing Statues’ formation
coincided with former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza’s city beautification project
dubbed as “Buhayin and Maynila”. It was during that period when Bay Walk in
Roxas Blvd. sprung to life with its various bars and night spots catering to
both local and foreign patrons. One of the most noteworthy bars in the area
was Anthology by the Bay. It was the same bar responsible for giving Pilyoz
their first stint as mime/statue performers. Through their incredible knack in
body precision, movement, and control, alongside their inventive costumes,
Pilyoz slowly received an avid following and commanded steady popularity.
The group’s sheer effectiveness in attracting and entertaining audience was
eventually noticed by other private businesses such as the Era Company and
Megaworld, that not for long, they were already doing gigs in other high-
volume locations like Eastwood City.
Since then, Pilyoz has performed for all sorts of event in myriad venues.
5. REVELATION
Pilyoz is a multifaceted performance group that thrives in diverse usage
of any type of entertainment platform. Here are the things that we can

corporate events, out of town fiestas to intimate gatherings,

7. EXODUS
It is inspiring to note the extent of Pilyoz’s accomplishments as a
bona fide performance artist. From the group’s humble
beginnings, it was able to triumph over all sorts of setbacks, rise
above mediocrity, and transcend the usual structure of
entertainment. Through the group’s dedication and hard work, its
credentials are now established and are continuously being
augmented.

Now with thirteenth years of experience in the industry, Pilyoz
looks back at the past with awe and anticipates the future with
optimism and heightened spirit. The group has made it, but they
