1. Project Lead/Tech Director MVS Core Ltd
Duties – how to make MVS’s computer architecture “cool” for a bigger commercial
audience.
“Selling computer systems is like a box of chocolates….the presentation promises so
much, but you don’t know what your gonna get”.
Shock, horror its official!! Some Computer Projects do not work and customers are no
longer keeping it quiet. If you missed it, after signing off a loss of $125 Million Dollars on its
SMT Service Model AVON’s CEO had this to say “...we can’t put enough lipstick on this
pig”!
With more industry transparency and less companies sweeping failures under the board
room carpet. It does seem organisations may not be getting what they need from
Mainstream IT Systems and our becoming more vocal about IT. Many of these issues
seem to be recurring problems, that in my opinion results from using the same handful of
base industry vendor software platforms. So do we drain the swamp and start over again?
No, with too much existing useful software, field expertise and potential massive
resistance to change maybe we start with re-building the foundations.
MVS is built upon a Corporate/Banking inspired No-SQL, multidimensional, post relational
database system and multi-user managed applications layer called MV. For decades these
systems have provided the heavy lifting for data processing, transactional processing,
reports and analytics in support of front ended Enterprise Solutions.
MVS Core builds upon that, with a product tailored towards SME’s that still retains the “Big
Data/Computing”, security and reliability features of a Corporate Product. But is easily
deployable to desktop computing or off the shelf servers. Yet offers economical scalability
from a few users to thousands.
But our coolest feature was anticipating the needs of Cloud Computing as far back as
2011. Although Mainstream Industry Apps can access agile data through our on-board
comprehensive API libraries. The Enterprise Mobility Module or EMM was developed to
offer a true Computing as a Service experience. Using a html portal, any web enabled
computing or device can access the server side multi-user managed applications platform.
Simply you can access the company system from your phone, laptop or internet fridge
without installing additional software like VMware or device specific Apps. Addressing
security and BYOD concerns, Data and Business Applications remain behind the Server
firewall and live administration. The Server/Device connection can be encrypted to 256Bit
Military Grade AES while the device can be protected with MFA or 2FA.
Personally what I see as an interesting prospect is helping current mainstream
Enterprise Computing to seamlessly and easily interface with millennial devices
and the Cloud. By simply swapping MV from a back-end role to a front-end
device interface role. Enterprise is given real-time agile data processing, SaaS,
PaaS, IaaS and additional support to cater to mobile users…..while retaining its
established and proven applications.
And that is MVS Core.
