The document discusses the meaning of life according to the book of Ecclesiastes. It makes four main points: 1) Life is meaningless without God, as works, joy, and everything are ultimately meaningless. 2) Life is unfair without God, as both righteousness and wealth are distributed unequally. 3) Life is unfulfilling without God, as people cannot know what is best or what the future holds. 4) Only life with God makes sense, as remembering Him provides the ultimate meaning. The conclusion emphasizes that Christ gives life true meaning, satisfaction, and wisdom.
6. Pahayag 3:20 “Nakatayo ako at
kumakatok sa pintuan. Kung diringgin
ninuman ang aking tinig at bubuksan
ang pinto, papasok ako sa kanyang
tahanan at kakain kaming magkasalo.”
7. Gen.3:10 "Natakot po ako nang marinig
kong kayo'y nasa halamanan; nagtago
lalaki.
11. Ecclesiastes, like the book
of Job, ponders a timeless
question: Why does life
seem so meaningless?
This is one of the Wisdom
books…
HUMAN WISDOM
12. This Greek word is related to
ekklesia, meaning
"assembly." "Ekklesiastes" is
the Greek translation of the
Hebrew word qohelet that the
NASB
translated "Preacher" in verse
1.
13. The Hebrew word
designates a leader who
speaks before
an assembly of people.
The NIV translation
"Teacher" is also a good
one.
15. Author: Solomon
Assuming that Solomon
wrote the book in its
entirety, he must have done
so during his Life time and
probably during his reign
(971-931 B.C.).
16. It has seemed probable to
some Jewish and Christian
scholars that he may have
written Song of Solomon
in his youth, Proverbs in
his middle life, and
Ecclesiastes in his old age
(cf. 2:1-11; 11:9; 12:1)
18. Who is SOLOMON?
1Hari 3:4-14 Minsan, pumunta si Solomon sa Gibeon upang
maghandog, sapagkat iyon ang pinakatanyag na sagradong
burol.
Sabihin
mo!" wika sa kanya.
19. Who is SOLOMON?
At
20. Who is SOLOMON?
7 Yahweh, aking Diyos, ginawa mo akong hari bilang kahalili ng
aking amang si David, kahit ako'y bata pa't walang karanasan. 8
21. Who is SOLOMON?
22. Who is SOLOMON?
23. Solomon’s reputation for possessing extraordinary
wisdom fits the Ecclesiastes profile. David
recognized his son’s wisdom (1 Kin. 2:6, 9) before
God gave Solomon an additional measure. After
he received a “wise and understanding heart” from
the Lord (1 Kin. 3:7–12),
24. The book is applicable to all who would listen and benefit,
not so much from Solomon’s experiences, but from the
principles he drew as a result. Its aim is to answer some of
life’s most challenging questions, particularly where they
seem contrary to Solomon’s expectations. This has led some
unwisely to take the view that Ecclesiastes is a book of
skepticism. But in spite of amazingly unwise behavior and
thinking, Solomon never let go of his faith in God (12:13,
14).
25. Theme and Purpose
This book helps the reader develop a God-
centered worldview and recognize the dangers of a
self-centered worldview.
26. The book teaches that people are accountable
to God, and that they should avoid self-
indulgence, which leads to the exploitation of
others for selfish gain.
27. Contribution to the Bible
Ecclesiastes is the most philosophical book in
the Bible, and its perspective is that of human
wisdom (1:13, 16-17) more than divine.
28. Contribution to the Bible
“Thus says the LORD.” Because of the point
of view, the book contains several contradict
the general teaching of Scripture when used
out of context. (see 1:15; 2:24; 3:19-20; 7:16-
17;8:15)
30. What do people gain from all
their labors
at which they toil under the
sun?
31. What do people gain from all
their labors
at which they toil under the
sun?
32. I. LIFE IS MEANINGLESS
WITHOUT GOD (1:1-2:26)
1. Meaningless of Works (1:1-3)
33. What do people gain from all
their labors
at which they toil under the
sun?
34. I. LIFE IS MEANINGLESS
WITHOUT GOD (1:1-2:26)
26 What good will it be for someone to
gain the whole world, yet forfeit their
soul? Or what can anyone give in
exchange for their soul? (Matt.16:26)
35. I. LIFE IS MEANINGLESS
WITHOUT GOD (1:1-2:26)
1. Meaningless of Works (1:1-3)
2. Meaningless of Joy (2:1, 10-11)
36. I. LIFE IS MEANINGLESS
WITHOUT GOD (1:1-2:26)
I said to myself, “Come now, I will test you
with pleasure to find out what is good.” But
that also proved to be meaningless. (2:1)
37. I. LIFE IS MEANINGLESS
WITHOUT GOD (1:1-2:26)
pinuhunan. Nakita kong ang lahat ay pawang
walang kabuluhan; tulad lang ito ng paghahabol
sa hangin.
38. I. LIFE IS MEANINGLESS
WITHOUT GOD (1:1-2:26)
1. Meaningless of Works (1:1-3)
2. Meaningless of Joy (2:1, 10-11)
3. Meaningless of Everything (2:12-
26)
39. I. LIFE IS MEANINGLESS
WITHOUT GOD (1:1-2:26)
1. Our works in life is not
meaningless if there is a God.
2. Our joy in life is not meaningless
if there is a God.
3. Everything in our life is not
meaningless if there is a God.
40. II. LIFE IS UNFAIR WITHOUT
GOD (3:16-5:20)
1. Righteousness and Wickedness
(3:16)
41. II. LIFE IS UNFAIR WITHOUT
GOD (3:16-5:20)
And I saw something else under the
sun: In the place of judgment—
wickedness was there, in the place of
justice—wickedness was there.
(Ecc.3:16)
42. II. LIFE IS UNFAIR WITHOUT
GOD (3:16-5:20)
1. Righteousness and Wickedness
(3:16)
2. Wealthy and Poor (5:8-11)
3. We carry nothing after death.
(5:15)
43. II. LIFE IS UNFAIR WITHOUT
GOD (3:16-5:20)
Everyone comes naked from their
mother’s womb,
and as everyone comes, so they
depart.
They take nothing from their toil
that they can carry in their hands.
(5:15)
44. III. LIFE IS UNFULFILLING
WITHOUT GOD (5:20-11:6)
1. People cannot fully know what is
best to do (ch.7-8:16-17)
2. People cannot fully know what the
future holds (ch.9:1-11:6)
45. III. LIFE IS UNFULFILLING
WITHOUT GOD (5:20-11:6)
1 Ang lahat ng ito'y pinag-aralan kong
mabuti at nalaman kong lahat ng kilos
ng matuwid at ng matalino ay nasa
ilalim ng kapangyarihan ng Diyos,
maging pag-ibig o pagkapoot. Walang
makakatiyak kung ano ang mangyayari
sa araw ng bukas.
46. III. LIFE IS UNFULFILLING
WITHOUT GOD (5:20-11:6)
47. III. LIFE IS UNFULFILLING
WITHOUT GOD (5:20-11:6)
1. People cannot fully know what is
best to do (ch.7-8:16-17)
2. People cannot fully know what the
future holds (ch.9:1-11:6)

MAKE SENSE (11:7-12:7)

sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move
you. Always give yourselves fully to the
work of the Lord, because you know that
your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
(1Cor.15:58 NIV)

MAKE SENSE (11:7-12:7)

another. As I have loved you, so you
must love one another.” (John 13:34)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new
creation has come: The old has gone, the
new is here! (2Cor.5:17 NIV)
51. IV. LIFE WITH GOD ONLY
MAKE SENSE (11:7-12:7)
42 The Queen of the South will rise at the
judgment with this generation and
condemn it; for she came from the ends
of the earth to listen to Solomon’s
wisdom, and now something greater
than Solomon is here. (Matt.12:42 NIV)
52. IV. LIFE WITH GOD ONLY
MAKE SENSE (11:7-12:7)
And he who was seated on the throne
said, “Behold, I am making all things
new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for
these words are trustworthy and true.”
(Rev.21:5 ESV)

THE TRUE JOY, ULTIMATE SATISFACTION,
WISDOM AND EVERYTHING. LIFE IS NOT
MEANINGLESS BECAUSE OF CHRIST. THE
MEANING OF LIFE IS IN CHRIST. IF WE
ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM
