2. Why? I have been purchasing and wearing headwear since Jesus
was building sand castles and this is the question I continue to
ask. The fad of leaving your hologram stickers on your cap has
me perplexed. The first thing I do after purchasing my brand new
cap is remove all paraphernalia that could mark or damage my
new statement.
That’s right, it is a statement for me. Every cap I buy, whether it
be for a sporting team, fashion or simply to mow my lawn has its
purpose. I have enough trouble trying to keep my headwear
clean and tidy without having a sticker ruining the brim. But, is
this the style I am missing?
3. It is amazing, nearly every cap we all buy now days has
followed this trend. We already see the company’s logo
stitched into the cap, we identify the brand by a certain
pattern and we know what we are looking for when we
got to purchase. So why the shiny sticker telling us what
we already know?
My interpretation is someone else did it so it looks good.
One day, a long time ago, someone with influence
decided today, I won’t remove this sticker. Is that really
you though? When you get up of a morning and you put
on your statement, do you think what would such and
such do? No, you have carefully selected you attire and
said “Which one of my awesome caps am I going to wear
today?”
4. Headwear is about you! It is not something you take lightly;
it is not something you just do. You didn’t spend the money
to be someone else. Your cap is a statement of who you
are, what you like and where you are going. That final piece
of clothing that you place on your head is about you. The
first thing people look at is your head.
Then they look at everything else. Make your statement for
you, not because someone else said this is what you should
do. If that means you leave your sticker on, so be it. If not,
tear that bad boy off and throw it in the bin. At the end of
the day, after weeks and months of wearing your
statement, it will fall of anyway! Then you’re just left with
the effort of trying to clean that stain off your favourite
cap.
