Attainability is a key component of suitable goals; however,
knowing whether a goal is actually attainable is often more difficult
than it seems.
Usually, the first step to making sure your goal is attainable is
making sure it’s realistic. This means putting serious consideration
into your interests, needs, desires, and abilities.

unlikely that you will accomplish said goal, which may cause
feelings of frustration and failure.
Beyond being realistic, you also should be specific when setting
your goal. Rather than saying you want to buy a new computer,
figure out the specific computer you want and make it your goal.
This gives you a better idea of the money you need to save and
keeps you from buying any computer, including ones you don’t
really want, to just complete your goal.
That being said, you also need some level of flexibility. As you
progress toward your goal, you will likely come across setbacks
that complicate your path to your goal or delay when you can
complete it. When this occurs, take each setback in stride and
don’t be scared of reassessing your current plan or changing you
plan entirely.
