• Completed PhD in Nursing Science in 3 years, while working full time as Deputy Director of
Nurse Anesthesia Program and Director of Clinical Education. Defended Dissertation
Research in February 2012.
• Designed and implemented first Direct Accession Plan for United States Air Force Nurse
Corps
o Civilian critical care nurses may be directly accessed into the Air Force Nurse
Anesthesia Program at the Uniformed Services University
o Decreases by an average of 6 years the time from entry to CRNA practice
o Increases number of qualified applicants and expands breadth of critical care skills in

addressed and alleviated
• Directed Department of Defense only quad service clinical CRNA program during
development of Doctor of Nursing Practice Curriculum
o Oversight for over 200 faculty/104 students located across the US and Alaska
o Program nationally ranked #5/110 by US News and World Report
o COA and CCNE accreditation lauded program as “Benchmark” with no discrepancies
noted.
• Developed “Emerging Scholars” course; 6 PhD seminars presented over first two years of
PhD curriculum. Utilizing a Bespoke curriculum we facilitate the integration of new PhD
students into the role of nurse scientist.
o Reduced attrition in first year of program by up to 50% in first 2 cohorts.
o Increased Cohort identity and cohesion
o Students develop presentation skills that increase their success in early courses,
decreased the time other faculty needs to develop these basic skills.
o Clinical identity loss is addressed and scientist role is modeled.
o Presented as a poster at AACN Doctoral Conference in Naples to disseminate to
nursing programs at a national meeting.
• Revised DNP core “Advanced Anatomy and Cell Biology Course” to incorporate web based
instructional platform
o Reduced need for contract anatomist by 20% with no impact on quality of course
o Reduced number of in laboratory hours study hours by increasing use of pro-seceted
cadavers and focused experience tied to clinical case presentation.
o Standardized testing platform to alleviate variation on lab practical experience and
incorporated clinical content into cadaveric experience.
• Working on evolution of nursing theory to incorporate changes in nursing practice (CNS and

APRN researchers). First middle range theory developed and submitted for review.
• Developed research on the autonomic nervous system and malignant hyperthermia using B-
lymphocytes
o First successful demonstration of increased sensitivity in Malignant Hyperthermia
susceptible b-lymphocytes.
o Demonstrated that immune cells could be used to examine hormonal differences in
various pathologic conditions
o Developed methodology used to investigate phenotypic responses to genetic variation
in MH and related heat related myopathies.
o Presented at “invitation only” Gordon Conference in E-C Coupling”
o First nurse to be awarded the Jerry M. Ross Lecture Award at AMSUS for my
research on Catecholamine Augmentation of Calcium Release in MHS B-Cells.
• Mentoring students on military research priorities of PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, Sleep
Deprivation, and retained metal physiology.
• Assigned as Air Force Liaison to Tri-Service Nursing Research Advisory Board: Review of all
submitted research grant proposals and recommendations made to Board of Directors
• Selected Program Director, University of South Florida College of Nursing/November 2014
o Designed study to identify root cause of first time board failures (67%)
o Institued curriculum revision, remediation for students in progress. Increased full time
faculty. First time pass rate for NCE increased to 97% in first year.
o Instituted “Primary Site” clinical model to increase decrease lost clinical time due to
frequent rotation. Improved continuity for clinical sites and students. Increased student
cohort size from 32 to 50 students in 2 years. Instituted new CRNA Program Model:
Masters of Science in Nurse Anesthesia.
o Spearheaded first at USF/2nd
in Nation Advanced Pain Management Fellowship for
Nurse Anesthetist. Successfully recruited expert faculty to design curriculum and
developed Post Master’s Certificate offering. Increasing certificate offerings at tuition
dollars for College of Nurings.
• Selected Senior Assistant Dean for Clinical Graduate Programs, USF, College of Nursing
o Appointed as first ever at USF to this position. Operational oversight 3 Programs and
6 advanced practice specialties.
o Reviewed and assisted to refine curriculum, identify appropriate processes for
admissions, retention and strategic initiatives in APRN practice.
