Editor's Notes
Remember that championing RM in many ways is like marketing. Not only do you have to wave the RM flag, but you also have to overcome some of the stereotypes and perceptions that people will have. As records managers, archivists, librarians and Information Managers we understand the value of context – the same applies here, you need to understand what is going to work in your particular context. What can you do, what will the organisation accept, what is more likely to work. See – its easy!
- What do you want from your champion, what do you need from them? - Likely to have a number of champions across your business - MUST have a champion at executive level, and yes it should be the CEO. Your champion must be someone that will do more than simply ‘wear the badge’, a champion is just that, someone who waves the RM flag for you and supports you through what is likely to be a challenging but fun programme of work.
