Paula Mendelsohn is a Licensed Dietitian and Certified Clinical Nutritionist based in Boca Raton, Florida. For over 25 years she has owned and operated her private practice, Boca Wellness & Nutrition Services. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Nutrition from the University of Florida and University of North Carolina. Ms. Mendelsohn has taught nutrition courses as an adjunct faculty member at Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach State College. 5. Paula Mendelsohn received her Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of
Florida at Gainesville In June of 1976 and her Master’s in Public Health Nutrition from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 1980. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in
Baltimore, Maryland in 1979, and as her first job after graduate school served as the Nutrition Supervisor for a
Laotian Refugee Camp in Northern Thailand.
Paula worked in Public Health for the State of Florida and as the outpatient Dietitian and on the Speaker’s Bureau
for Boca Raton Community Hospital prior to starting her private practice in 1987. For the past 25 years, she has
been the President/Owner of Boca Wellness & Nutrition Services in Boca Raton, Florida. From Fall semester of
2000 until _________, Paula was an adjunct faculty member at Florida Atlantic University, teaching the nutrition
course for the Lynn College of Nursing and also served as a preceptor for the University of Florida graduate
nutrition students completing their private practice rotations.
Ms. Mendelsohn is a Licensed Dietitian with the State of Florida, a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of
Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly known as the American Dietetic Association), an active member of both the
Nutrition Entrepreneurs and Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine practice groups, and a volunteer
with the Florida Dietetic Association. This year, Paula will serve as the President of the Palm Beach Dietetic
Association. She is an active member of the Institute for Functional Medicine and an alumnus of their Nutrition
Advisory Board.
Paula completed the requirements for Certified Clinical Nutritionist in 2002 and fulfilled the AFMCP (Applying
Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice) program in 2004). Her expertise was acknowledged when she was asked
to serve on the Health Professional Panel of the Discovery Health Channel.
Paula practices what she teaches maintaining a 70 pound weight loss since 1973. Her counseling specialties
include weight management, blood sugar management, metabolic syndrome, digestive disorders, women’s
nutrition concerns, auto-immune inflammatory disorders, energy nutrition and chronic disease prevention. She
is pursuing an in-depth on going study of safe and effective herbal and supplemental therapies.
