RESEARCH INTERESTS
Mentoring resident research: Have mentored the majority of resident research projects. This has
resulted in presentations at regional and national meetings.
Geographic Information Systems: Recent work focused on obesity and the built environment and
was submitted as Capstone Project for MPH completed November 2009. This was published in
Public Health Reports. Have learned use of GIS software including ArcMap ®, GeoDa® for
spatial analysis of health data. Applied GIS tools to analyze Kawasaki Disease and Thyroid
Cancer rates.
Health Risk Behaviors and depression: recently was co-author of book chapter and published in
Pediatrics on risk behaviors and depression in adolescents.
Clinical Pediatrics: Developed clinical practice guidelines on tonsillectomy in children in
collaboration with multidisciplinary team co-sponsored by American Academy of Pediatrics and
American Academy of Otolaryngology. This was published January 2011 in Otolaryngology—
Head and Neck Surgery.
Parenting styles: Presented at national and regional conferences on the various parenting styles
and how this influences outcomes in children.

  • 7. 7 RESEARCH INTERESTS Mentoring resident research: Have mentored the majority of resident research projects. This has resulted in presentations at regional and national meetings. Geographic Information Systems: Recent work focused on obesity and the built environment and was submitted as Capstone Project for MPH completed November 2009. This was published in Public Health Reports. Have learned use of GIS software including ArcMap ®, GeoDa® for spatial analysis of health data. Applied GIS tools to analyze Kawasaki Disease and Thyroid Cancer rates. Health Risk Behaviors and depression: recently was co-author of book chapter and published in Pediatrics on risk behaviors and depression in adolescents. Clinical Pediatrics: Developed clinical practice guidelines on tonsillectomy in children in collaboration with multidisciplinary team co-sponsored by American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Otolaryngology. This was published January 2011 in Otolaryngology— Head and Neck Surgery. Parenting styles: Presented at national and regional conferences on the various parenting styles and how this influences outcomes in children.
