1. WELCOME
PATRICK HENRY COLLEGE
On Campus Wing Chapel at Patrick Henry
College
Wing Chapels are an important part of spiritual life of students. They are small
groups that meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:40-10:20 a.m. at Patrick
Henry College. Wing Chapel is led by student Resident Assistants who give
students the chance to study God’s Word or other classic Christian devotional
works on a more personal level. Wing Chapel brings brotherhood and
fellowship among students. It also teaches Biblical preaching apart from
academic studies.
2. Brotherhood : As compared to other Christian colleges, Patrick Henry
College’s rules on wing chapel are pretty simple and easy. Corporate
chapel is required three times a week, with ten skips allowed per
semester. Each wing in each dorm has a mandatory chapel twice a
week with no skips. The topics for the chapel bring a sense of
brotherhood among students every time. Each wing at Patrick Henry
College is made up of random Christian guys from all over the US
irrespective of their qualities, colour etc to bring brotherhood among
them and to unite them. The only common thing in them is the desire to
serve Christ and spread Christianity.
Fellowship : In recent years, fellowship is becoming hard to come by. It
seems like people are withdrawing more and more into themselves
through social media and other social activities. Wing chapel at Patrick
Henry College contributes to fellowship as it connects the students at
least twice a week and thus helps bring them together. Students talk
about nonsense, make fun of each other just to reconnect before the
beginning of actual chapel. Students also talk about serious subjects
which actually bring them closer and thus promote fellowship. At
Patrick Henry College fellowship is an investment. With wing chapels
and frequent interactions, students built such strong friendships.
3. Iron Sharpening Iron
As the proverb says that “as iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the
countenance of a friend”. This signifies that how good friends are able to
keep each other accountable along with strengthening each other. At
Patrick Henry College students grew a habit of calling each other out
whenever something concerned is there. Wing chapel taught the students
that they could address problems in each other when they capture them.
This practice also forces the students to shunt their pride, since being
accountable to anyone is certainly a humbling experience.

4. ▣ Wing Chapel at Patrick Henry College validates a very
long-forgotten rule: that happiness requires discipline.
Whether this discipline is self-imposed or from outside
does not matter at all. At Patrick Henry College discipline
is self-imposed by the students which is the fruit of Wing
Chapel.
