WHY SOUND DETECTION
2
The images of the surveillance camera of the city of Nice
installed near the jewelry do not confirm this statement.
During the robbery, the camera was not oriented towards
the jewelry store and did not film the scene.
(Nice - 09/2013)
Video surveillance was active, but at the time of the incident, it was not
directed at the scene of the crime.
(Albertville - 01/2014)
... lack of luck, the surveillance camera was not oriented
towards this portion of road
(Montpellier - 07/2014)

WHAT IT LOOKS AT
• How to attract the
attention of the video
surveillance system?
• How can the system
respond to an out of

In town, or in public places there is a lot of noise,
and the noise changes all the time ... And that's
normal!
In naturally noisy contexts
• What are the noises that worry us?
• How to detect abnormal sound?
6. The SENSIVIC detection algorithm
is based on the concept of
SOUNDSCAPE
Keynote sound + Marker sound + Signal

Signal
• Keynote sound : The sounds produced by the surrounding activity that our brain quickly
learns to eliminate. Nothing surprises us, we get used to it. Sounds of natural environment
little aggressive (river, surf of the sea, wind ...)
• Marker sounds Are related to the activity of a moment and a place, they refer to a
community: sounds of ambient artefact (highways, factories, construction sites, airports,
hubbub of a crowd, schools, stadiums …)
• A Signal is an abrupt change in the ambient sound environment. It is precisely this sudden
change that surprises us and attracts our attention.
