ABOUT CLAY TEAM SPORTS
3. OUR HISTORY
Ø CLAY (Christian League of Athletics for Youth) was founded in
2004 as the continuation of the 100+ year old Erie County
Church Athletic Association.
Ø Since then, CLAY has grown from a recreation league for local
Sunday school students into one of the most robust and
influential sports outreach programs in the world.
4. ATHLETE’S PLEDGE
As an athlete, I can be a role model and inspire others.
Therefore, I promise to:
Live with integrity on and off the field of play;
Use my talents and gifts to honor my team, my family and my
faith;
Hold myself accountable to a higher standard;
And work to have a positive impact on my community.
5. CLAY CODE (WHO WE ARE)
Ø Christian: Faith-based, God-centered, Jesus focused.
Ø League: A group of like-minded people and organizations
promoting the same goals.
Ø Athletics: Sports, recreation, competition, healthy lifestyles.
Ø Youth: From first grade through high school, our mission is our
kids.
6. CLAY CODE (WHAT WE STAND FOR)
Ø Love: Show love for those you know and those you don’t.
Ø Joy: Take joy in the achievements if your child and their
opponents...no matter how small.
Ø Peace: Allow peace to override the “heat of the game.”
7. CLAY CODE (WHAT WE STAND FOR)
Ø Patience: Players, coaches and officials will not always make
the play or call you would…but since it’s just a game, it’s OK.
Ø Kindness: Not everyone will always do it right. They might
need better training…or they might be doing the best they can.
Ø Goodness: Players don’t always see the “big picture.” Draw
them one that draws them in.
8. CLAY CODE (WHAT WE STAND FOR)
Ø Faithfulness: Be true to Who We Are (see previous).
Ø Gentleness: Be faith in talking about others. If it’s not nice,
don’t say it.
Ø Self-Control: Do not allow your actions to be swayed by
outside influences.
