4. Morocco was the second African country to establish diplomatic
relations with Beijing in November 1958. Since then China and
Morocco agree on most international affairs and have established
relations of sovereignty.
Then a bilateral relationship between Morocco and China was
established, and despite the big geographical distance, the two
countries have a long history of exchange, low at the beginning, but
since the 90s, the volume of trade does not stop to grow and cover
several fields: economic, industrial, cultural and political.
7. China is Morocco’s fourth largest trading partner after Spain,
France, and the United States.
Morocco is China’s seventh largest trading partner in Africa.
8. Since 1999, we find that there is a big imbalance between China and
Morocco in terms of trade.
China has experienced a strong growth in terms of exports to Morocco, to
become the 3rd supplier with nearly 3.10 billion U.S. $, behind France
(8.8billion U.S. $) and Spain (5billion U.S. $)
Morocco remains timid in its exports to China and record only 0.35 billion
U.S. $ which are mainly phosphate fertilizers, electrical products, fish and
scrap copper
