Y
ears of frequent vaca-
tion trips to the island
of Jamaica, has lead
tourist Debra Levy to de-
tail her adventures in a
book titled ‘Tripping’.
The self-published novel
debut last year and accord-
ing to the Detroit, Mich-
igan-based author, who
also goes by the moniker
‘Sunshine’, “you can say
this book is my personal
diary on Jamaica, word for
word.”
On her recent trip to the
island, Levy described her
first work as sexy, exhila-
rating and very informative
as the book tells of her jour-
neys to the island to seek
love, as well as many of the
underlying problems and
scams encountered along
the way.
It also outlines the na-
ivety and bad behaviors
displayed by some tourists,
particularly the females
who sometimes damage
local lives by the end of
their stay.
“When we (female tour-
ists) come here, the lan-
guage we bring here are
not ladylike. We are just
here having a good time
and don’t take care to see
the suffering, only the next
drink and party,” Levy
explained.
“We are not thinking

that this is someone’s hus-
band or boyfriend, and
you don’t know what these
people will have to deal
with when they eventually
go home,” she added.
‘Tripping’ is available in
the USA and even the UK.
It is also offered on the
author’s website sunshine-

“Some of my coworkers
already came to Jamaica
because they read my book,
and went to the same places
I have gone,” she said.
Levy, however, said her
deep-seated love for the
island of Jamaica and its
people, will always her
coming back for years to
come.
