• «Det var engang en kone som hadde syv
sultne unger, og dem stekte hun pannekaker
til.»
• «Once upon a time there was a wife who had
seven hungry children, and to them she fried
pancakes.»
3. Subjectives
• En kone – a wife, but in som cases it is also used
about a woman who isn’t married, this will often
be «en gammel kone» (an old woman).
• En unge – a child
• In the fairy tale it is more than one child. It is then
-> «unger»
• «En pannekake» is one pancake, but plural it is
«pannekaker»
• «En kone», but many «koner»
4. Test
• From the previous examples what will these
words be in plural?
• En bil (a car)
• En hund (a dog)
• En hest ( a horse)
6. • These subjectives are all «male» thats why they
have «en» in front of them.
• In norwegian there is also female and neutral
subjectives.
• Female subjectives have «ei» in front of them and
neutral ones have «et». They will not have –er in
plural.
• In addition to different conjugations for different
genders there are irregular subjektives which are
conjugated in a completely different way
7. To be
• To be in norwegian is «å være»
• This is an irregular verb
• It is conjugated like this: å være-er- var-har
vært
(To be-is-was-have been)
To have is also irregular and is conjugated like
this: Å ha-har-hadde-har hatt
8. • Å steke (to cook, fry, roast) is a regular verb
• Å steke-steker-stekte-har stekt

• En kone steker hunder.
• En hund har syv unger og én pannekake til
dem.
