You’re my new e-friend
Hi:
My name is Andrew and I live in Edinburgh. Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. It isn’t the biggest city in the country but it’s the most
beautiful. The largest city in Scotland is Glasgow.
By the way, do you know where Scotland is? It’s in the North of Great Britain.
Scotland isn’t a very big country. The total land area is about 30.000 square miles, but we have a lot of mountains and lochs. Loch is the way we
call lakes here in Scotland. The most famous lake in Scotland is The Loch Ness.
Although I just have a few friends, my daddy says that there are a lot of people living in Scotland. We are about 5 million. That’s a lot!
Scotland is a country with a long history. Many different civilizations have lived here. One of them were the Vikings.
The main boss in Scotland is an old lady called Queen Elizabeth II. She is very powerful because she is also the Queen of England and Northern
Ireland. Last summer, her grandson married a beautiful girl called Kate. It was a huge wedding with lots of guests. But, I wasn’t invited.
Do you know that Scottish men wear skirts in weddings? We call them kilts and we use them in special days. We also play bagpipes in weddings.
A bagpipe is a wind instrument typical form Scotland. Have you got something similar in Spain? Almost all members of my family play the
bagpipe. But I’m the worst .

You’re my new e-friend
What is your favorite sport? I love football, but in Scotland we call it soccer. My favorite team is Celtics, but I like Barcelona, too. I think that
Messi is the best football player ion Earth.
Apart from soccer, we play rugby and curling, too. But there are some other traditional sports that I’m sure you don’t know. One of them is
the caber tossing. The players have to throw big logs as far away as possible. I’m sure they are the strongest men in the world!!!
It’s 6 o’clock. Time for dinner. Tonight my mum is cooking haggies. Haggies is a typical Scottish dish. It looks like a huge sausage. It’s stuffed
with entrails of sheep. I know it sounds disgusting but it’s delicious!!!
I have to go. I hope you write me soon and if one day you come to Scotland, remember to bring sterling pounds, because we don’t pay with
euros any more.
I send you attached a picture of Edinburgh Castle. It’s the most popular place to visit in Edinburgh. I took it last summer. It was raining. In
Scotland it rains very often.
Regards .
Andrew Cadell
