2. Why demonstrate now?
To show support for the negotiation
of the sector collective agreement
To highlight and oppose the serious job
insecurity that we suffer in this sector
Fraudulent, temporary and part-time contracts
Illegal use of temporary contracts year after year
Contracted as part-time but obliged by the company to be
available to work all hours of the day, all week
Social security fraud, evasion of paying full contributions
Lack of recognition of basic labour and social rights, such as
paid-time off, holidays and our basic union rights
The labour reform worsened what were already
unacceptably poor working conditions!
To demand:
Agreement of new sector-wide minimum wage scales
Healthy working week & regulation of flexible hours requirements
Measures to improve the work-life balance
Secure contracts with real hours worked recorded on the contract
Protect and improve social rights, paid leave, sick leave etc.
Respect for our right to union organisation, free from direct or
indirect threats and intimidation when workers get organised
To continue building our network and strong union
base to defend our rights and conditions.
We want a strong active union in our sector. We’ve
increased representation in elections and
union membership has NEW
MEMBERSHIP
doubled in the last 4 years.
