INTRODUCTION
At the PBS Mentoring Program, our goal is
to foster relationships between responsible
young adults and troubled youth. Amentor
is a caring adult volunteer who is willing to
spend time helping a young person
succeed. By forminga relationship with
youth, we believe that with added support
comes self-confidence to reach youth’s
potential
POSITIVE OUTCOMES
OF MENTORING
Mentoring has many positive outcomes
including: high academic achievement, low
dropout rates, and increase self-efficacy in
school performance. Youth who participate
in mentoring programs are also less likely to
use drugs or alcoholand use violent
behavior. Family dynamic is alsoaffected by
mentoring programs. Youth who participate
get along better with family members.
