1. PRO SHOP
When I’m behind the counter in our Pro Shop I sell anythingfrom golf clubs,to
range tokens. I deal with customers of all ages every day. Being in the pro shop
has also helped me learn how to deal with conflictdirectly. I always haveto think
on my feet and make judgment callsin the matter of minutes. It’s taught me how
to deal with and satisfy angry customers properly. It has also really helped me
understand the game of golf, how longit should take someone to play 18 holes or
even how longit takes someone to “make the turn”.
BARTENDER
When I’m behind the bar I sell mostly drinks butI also waiton tables. I help out
where ever I’m needed, even if that means going back in the kitchen to help make
some grilled cheeses. I love working behind the bar because it’s really a rewarding
experience getting to build relationshipswith regular golfers, and being ableto
have their order ready before they even open their mouths. I’ve learned how to
deal with very difficultsituations(usually peopleway under the influence) and still
remain calm. I’ve also learned how to work well with other waitresses and
bartenders whether itmeans givingout table assignments or pickingwhich drink
to pour and which tab to put iton.
BEVERAGE CART
When I’m drivingthe beverage cart my main objective is to not get hitby a golf
ball. I’malways very friendly and servingmy drinks with a smile. Being on the
beverage carthas taught me responsibility in situations likewhen my drawer
comes up short, the money comes rightout of my tips. I think that the immediate
disciplineis somethingthat really stuck with me. I’ve also learned responsibility
with independence consideringI amnot the legal age limitto consume alcohol and
not ever taking advantageof being out on the coursewith no supervision.
ASSISTANTIN BOOKINGOUTTINGSANDLEAGUES
When I help book outings or leagues I always try to connect on a personal level and
be availablearound the clock. I always wantthe customer to know that I am an
approachableperson and always willingto be in contact with them. I have great
communication skillsand meeting with people and talkingon the phone areboth
very easy tasks for me to accomplish. Bookinghas taught me that every customer
is different and that flexibility isimportant. Ithas also taughtme how to compete
properly in the business world. When bookingyou have to compete with other
golf prices, but you also haveto keep in mind how bigyour profitmargins areand
always knowwhat you are workingwith( how low can you really go).
