Christopher Christie
Governor
P.O. Box 001
Trenton,
Dear Governor Christie:
I am writing to you in the hopes that you will consider funding for a Universal Pre K
program. Instead of initiating cuts to Pre K programs , you should be increasing funding.
Having a Universal Pre K program for all would set our children up for future success.
According to ACNJ, Preschool has been proven to reduce the costs from school failure
and special education programs. Students who attend Pre K score significantly higher on
standardized tests, and their overall grades are much higher in school.
Having Universal Pre K supports communities and parents, which is critical in future
success of our students and families.
Contrary to certain beliefs that I have heard you express, Pre School is not glorified
babysitting. Students learn valuable social emotional skills, academic, language, and
cognitive skills. Please consider instituting a Universal Pre K program in our state. The
future success of our state depends on it.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nicole Lee O’Donnell
