This document outlines Nichole Garner's assignments for their CRP 201 course during Fall 2013 at Combrink. It includes assignments on site analysis, conceptual diagrams, site plans, sections/elevations, and digital and hand renderings of a site plan for renewing the east end of downtown San Luis Obispo. Objective #1 Objective #2 Objective #3
To create an amphitheater with a multi-functional
plaza. This will be located away from Higuera Street
traffic with buildings creating a sound barrier between
the road and amphitheater. Deep steps creating levels
for seating will lead down to a stage wide enough to
also function as art display area. The steps and area
above them will be covered in grass to be more versa-
tile. They can be combined with the plaza to create a
large art exhibit space.
Provide a comfortable space for residents in the mixed
use buildings and people passing through. Create a
shaded area for commercial visitors to sit during the
day, but create a place that will be quiet and mostly
empty at night to not disturb the residents above the
commercial space and across the street. Seating will be
provided on the foot bridge and near the creek edge,
as well as in front of the commercial area.
To create easy pedestrian circulation. Create a direct
path from Higuera to the commercial/residential area
on Monterey Street, with a seating destination on each
side of the creek. Use different paving patterns to de-
fine the main pathway. Provide bike parking on both
sides of the creek.
A labrynth brings
character to the
amphitheater stage and
provides a creative
entertainment piece.
