1. Starting with what I would call "Light touch technology"
Nicholas was VP sales and marketing and then European MD / COO of
several Internet service providers, migrating them all from a leased line
access only play to a managed service businesses creating MPLS, ADSL,
managed NAS and SAN, logical security and e-mail / e-commerce
platforms all targeted at the SMB sector.
He recently was the COO of a SaaS company with development teams
based in Moscow and sales and marketing in Atlanta, Georgia. Nicholas
created the strategy, business plan and Investment strategy raising $6m
for the business and then transforming the company from a managed
service business to a product based business with self provision, e-
commerce and a fully supported front and back end web based billing
and version control / security algorithmic platforms.
Regarding his understanding of "Digital media"
As you will see from his LinkedIN profile, Nicholas started his career in
traditional marketing communications (advertising, design and
corporate identity) he has been Global brand custodian for some
impressive corporate icons. He then moved into the web creating
Reality, at its panicle the most reputable and highest profile web design
and build company in Europe. As the Internet became more Intelligent in
terms of search and analytics Nicholas helped create and launch
Buzzmetrics, recently acquired by Reed, which is still the most agile and
sophisticated "relevance engine" Globally. Nicholas is very in touch with
social media and until recently has been driving Digital Realty's sales and
marketing strategy in EMEA, which is seeing a marked increase in
activity, saliency and recall across all social media properties as well as
delivering top line growth.
"SMB, Enterprise and Geographic markets"
The three Internet Service Providers that Nicholas ran (hostmark,
Worldport and PSINet Europe) were all predominantly focused on the
SMB sector. Recently VIMtrek and Vizerra the SAAS architectural 3D
virtualization and Building Information Management software
companies were 100% targeted at this sector. Nicholas knows how to
scale a business retaining agility at the front end whilst creating stability
& predictability at the back end to grow from $10m to $100m business
through a mix of new product development, organic and acquisitive
growth.
2. "General management and P&L responsibility"
Nicholas has undertaken numerous acquisitions and Integration's
growing each enterprise significantly. He is a real motivator of teams
and loves to roll his sleeves up and gets involved to solve an issue or
create market / customer advantage. His stint at the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) where he was head of
Investment planning and strategy for the TMT group taught him a great
deal about managing teams to evaluate and implement structural
changes to businesses to drive profitability top line growth and customer
delight.
