khawabon ki duniya badi haseen hoti hai
apna asmaan hota hai apni zameen hoti hai
jugnuon ki roshni mein hota hai savera
khawahishon ke par laga kar parvaaz buland hoti hai
dil tut ne ki aahe, woh andhere saye
suna hai shaher-e-mohabbat ki galiyan bhi tang hoti hai
dil todne ki ranjish, tujh ko bhi un sataye
jab mera zikr aye teri ankhen bhi nam hoti hai
tune jo likha tha maine sab padh liya
kya itni badi khata ki safai itni kam hoti hai
khawabon ki duniya badi haseen hoti hai

Hi,
The first issue of Pune Curry came out on time. Good show by the organizers. The response indicates that we
have the latent talents and creativity. The numbers are not so good though. Let us plough on.... the juices will come.
This time I would like to dwell on one of pet phobias "The Helmet Phobia".On an average we have 65 of our
valuedstaffcomingtoworkontheir2wheelers.Thesurveyoverthelast5monthsbytheSecuritystaffindicatesthatless
than 50% use helmets. An average journey should take 25 mins - a distance of 12-15 kms and some portion of this

rear-view mirror for combing or adjusting hairdo's seem to be the norm!! Some are convinced but don't want to do
anything about it.One husband gave a helmet as a gift on a birthday after a stray stone hit the rider in the eye !! Two

2. 1. Take time for reflection. The introspective nature of winter provides
an excellent opportunity for greater reflection and self-assessment.
Take an honest look at where you are. At the same time, be gentle with
yourself. If you are somewhat depleted, you may also feel more
vulnerable and more susceptible to illness. Your emotions may be high,
or you may be more sensitive than usual. See if you are able to accept
yourself more fully in as many areas of your life as possible.
2. Reduce stress. That will help you conserve energy and slow down
unnecessary drains on your energy. Assess the type of stress you are
experiencing - is it physical or emotional? Are you feeling stress from
your environment, an illness, your work, or your relationships?
3. Get quality sleep. Sleep involves both your state-of-mind and body
chemistry. If you go to bed feeling stressed or laden with worries, even
if you don't normally have insomnia, your sleep may not have the
quality it does when your mind is relaxed. On the other hand, I have
patients who report that they sleep more deeply and more easily if they
supplement with certain nutrients, such as calcium and magnesium.
4. Increase the relaxation in your life. Learn some relaxation
exercises or practice yoga, Tai chi, Qigong, or Pilates exercises. These
gentle practices can be done almost anywhere, regardless of the
weather.
5. Nourish yourself. In this still cold time of winter, provide your body
with the extra raw materials it needs. Emphasize warming foods - more
concentrated sources of fuel and nutrients, including whole grains and
beans, nuts and seeds, seaweed, and quality proteins. In cold or damp
weather, you also require a few more calories and spices such as
ginger, garlic, and cayenne to heat your body.
6. Be sure you're getting enough essential nutrients. You also need
some nutrient enhancement to protect you from the stresses of cold,
wind, dampness, and the decrease in sunlight. [ This is the reason cod
liver oil, containing vitamins A, D, and good fatty acids, was a staple in
healthy families in the 19th century. ] The antioxidants are important,
especially vitamins A, E, and C. Nutrients that address stress include
the B complex vitamins (with B5 and B12), as well as the range of
"smart supplements" now available such as alpha lipoic acid,
phosphatidyl serine, and others.
Make sure you get enough friendly fats and oils - the essential fatty
acids you all need to operate the nervous system, rebuild and protect
your cells, and assure good brain function. Remember that these fats
do not make us fat - in fact, you're more likely to gain weight if you don't
have them, because the lack may increase your food cravings.
7. Avoid over-indulgence. If you feel like you're "running on empty," it
makes sense to give yourself a little extra nurturing. But don't confuse
self-care with self-indulgence. Continue to minimize sweets and simple
starches and avoid the empty calories of junk food. Portion sizes may
also be a factor. Provide yourself with quality nutrition and supplements
rather than constantly jump-starting yourself with caffeine.
8. Have fun, Laugh, Hang out with your most fun-loving and light-
hearted friends, including animal friends. Simple pleasures are stress
reducing and very healing.
9. Make time for love. Touch and intimacy are also good for your
health. If you're not in an intimate relationship, get a massage, renew
an old friendship, or make time for some close emotional interchanges
with a trusted friend or family member.
10. Nourish others. Notice how very deeply that nourishes you in
return. Build giving into your life. Another important aspect of giving is
remembering to keep reasonable limits or boundaries, so you don't feel
swallowed up or depleted by your generosity. That brings us full circle
to the idea of conserving energy at the end of winter, in preparation for
the rebirth of spring.

IS IT THE TRUTH ?
IS IT FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED ?
WILL IT BUILD GOODWILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIP ?
WILL IT BE BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED ?
The Youth of Today are the leaders of tomorrow and is one of the world's largest
valuable resources. Service to the youth is a positive and a continuous force for world
understanding peace and building youth for the future RYLA is an intensive training
program for community leaders of tomorrow. It is the personality development of the
youth in order to imbibe in them sterling values so that they become exemplary citizens.
Slowly but surely, the leader "in within" starts emerging. by gaining confidence and self
esteem.RYLA goes a long way in moulding young minds, developing their innate
potential, courage, conviction, confidence and creativity.RYLA focusses on self-
development, human values and profession development by group discussions,
motivation talks and fellowship activities. In short, RYLA is a responsibility but also a
wonderful oppurtunity to develop the future leaders of tomorrow.
Sharing my experiences at the Club RYLA (24-27th September, 2002) at
YMCA, and the International RYLA at Lonavala from (9th-13th November, 2002) which
was coordinated Pune's leading management educationalist Rtn. Dr.George Judah and
our Past District Governor Rtn. Dr. Philly Karani respectively. The Rotary Club of Pimpri
gave me this unique oppurtunity to visit both these platforms this year and trainings
varied from keeping us physically "Fit and Healthy" by Talwalkar's and Yoga by
Kaivalyadham trained Dr.Gore followed by hearing to these wonderful talks, which
varied from Leadership (Dr.Karani), Character Building (Maj. Gen H.C.Gangoli), Public
Speaking (Rtn. PP Divakaran Pillai.), Bio Tech Future (Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan,
University of Pune), Human Sexuality-misconceptions and Reality (Dr. Leena
Mohadikar) and knowledge of Bio-Diversity by none other the very best (after late
Dr.Salim Ali) in the country Dr. Euruch Bharucha, Memory Training (Dr. Vijay
Karenjekar),The World Today (Dr BSKS Chopra),Creativity(Dr.Goerge Judah),Stress
Management (Veena Apte),Emotional Intelligence (Nanda Ganesh),Time
management(Pramod Jain),Ethics and Valu7es(Prof.Hosi Moogat),Expressions
through dance (Jyothi Suryavanshi-Osho Commune) and last but not the least.....Treks
to Lohegad and adventurous sports like valley crossing, trekking etc. and series of
competitive club games by the wonderful pair of Rajiv and Meghana Tulpule. We had
participants from USA, Germany, Holland, Mexico, Hungary, Japan and various others.
This rigorous schedule from .6 am to 10 pm, not only added to my external
development. But also to the internal real development and strengthened the imbibing
moral values within. We were comfortably hosted by the Rotary Club of Khandala and a
wonderful moment of togetherness of us at D.T.Shahani's Holiday Home, Lonavala. It
was overwhelming joy and moment to be proud at the valedictory function when my
team "fruitcakes"(mix of foreigners and Indians) emerged best among all the five teams
and was unanimously elected the Best leader. This step by Rotary has benefited me
tremendously and I believe this approach to the New Generation will go a long way
getting back service from the youth, when they grow, to serve the Nation and the world
as responsible citizen's, thus guiding the world towards peace and mutual
understanding. This camp enhanced my leadership qualities and I look forward to take
up this mantle wholeheartedly and involve in the mission to be a better part of the globe
in the 21 st century.
We are charged with the theme "Towards Excellence" and have learnt vital
lessons from the wonderful teachers and hope to display these skills of thought
effectively with time and tide and try to groom those lessons learnt to become a worthy
citizen of tomorrow and make a formidable society., develop high ethical standards in
business and profession and spread the message of international understanding,
goodwill and peace through the world.
Emphasis on "Striving towards Excellence"
and striking gold at the International RYLA

The eBiz SBU get together at Kala Sagar on 29th was an ecstatic event full of vigour, vibrant mood and
high energy levels. The pains of OMS, SOTC etc. seemed a distant dream. The dance floor seemed to
shrink as the music kept playing the mix of rap, jazz, masala-mix and more. Were we 20 years late? The
contrast of the generation and the "trends of time" was very visible. In the melee one remembered
Audrey Hepburn, the Princess in "Roman Holiday" who coshed the head of a customer with a Guitar in a
bar-cum-dance room amidst a fight. Fortunately Mukta Joshi only burnt a hole in the dance floor and did
not use Niranjan's guitar to those effects After the rock, jazz, pop to oldies in English, switching to the

Whatever THE MIND OF MAN can CONCEIVE and
BELIEVE, it can ACHIEVE. There are no LIMITATIONS to
the mind except those we acknowledge.
Both poverty and riches are the offspring of thought.
Every adversity, every failure and every heartache carries
with it the seed of equivalent of a greater benefit.
Success Requires no explanation. Failures permits no
alibis.
Happiness is found in DOING not merely in possessing.
Anybody can wish for riches, and most people do, but only a
few know that definite plan, plus a burning desire for wealth,
are the only dependable means of accumulating wealth.
The ladder of success is never CROWDED at the top.

EMPLOYMENT
Our sardarji was filling up an application form for a job.
He promptly filled the columns titled NAME,AGE, ADDRESS etc.
Then he came to the column "Salary Expected" :
He was not sure as to what to be filled there.
After much thought he wrote : Yes
What a grip this T.V. channel has on the
upcoming generation. Nuisance is what
most of us would like to call it and most of
us parents will agree.
The other day our 4yr old woke up suddenly at an unearthly
hour. It was 4:30 am, the best time to be asleep in Pune city.
He seemed excited “Mummy, I had a dream and they were
showing Superman, Batman, Captain Planet and G.I.Joe”.
Somehow better sense prevailed. The fairy of sleep must
have descended once again. But before dozing off we heard
a promise, “Now I will close my eyes and see what else they
are showing in the dream”.
What an idea, had never thought of a dream as a cartoon
network channel. Wonder if “they” show the very same
dream to all kids in Pune, all at the same time!
For most parents it is disheartening to see their little pre-
primary ones developing into couch potatoes, sitting in front
of the T.V. watching the cartoon channel for hours together.
It is an addiction for the children and a challenge for the
elders to either switch off the T.V. or change the channel. So
the obvious comes into effect and the cartoon channel is
disabled.
Yet for other parents it is a welcome distraction. At least it
ensures that the hyper active kids of this generation are
quiet for some time. It keeps them indoor especially during
the afternoons. Some consider it the best time to feed and
stuff them. It acts as an anesthetic.
The gurus in this domain look at it from their own
perspective. They say the kids are learning survival tactics,
conflict resolution, problem solving, creative thinking,
triumph of good over evil, logic and rules and what have you.
All in a very short span of time.
Well whatever they may have to say, even the elders do
enjoy occasional cartoons such as the famous Tom &
Jerry show, which has its own gripping and enticing
characteristics. Wonder how we grew up without the
cartoon channel? Hope we did not miss something that
may have contributed to learning better human
transactional techniques. We only have to wait and see
how these kids grow up and whether they do handle their
problems any better.
CARTOON NETWORK
edia to describe shortly is a method of conveying
information in all aspects of life and not only the ad's,
Mfilms or fashion. This is achieved through various
mediums like newspapers, magazines, televisions, computers and much
much more. However, televisions have innumerable channels at hand,
and it has therefore emerged as the strongest and the most effective in
media.
In films, right from the legendary movies like “Mother India” to the “Bandit
Queen”, women have invariably portrayed aspiring roles, educating the
society and upbringing our heritage. Strong actresses like Nargis, Devika
Rani, Madhubala to the recent ones like Aishwarya, Tabu and Madhuri, all
have created images which will be remembered for ages. In the field of
direction and film making names like Vijaya Mehta, Shobha De, Sai
Paranjpe and Aparna Sen, too have made their own mark of respect.
Women like Shabana Azmi, Simi Garewal who along with acting have
done some pioneering work in film and documentary section. Thus giving a
valuable contribution to media.
Now to talk of the fashion world and beauty pageants, well, that too is in a
fast boom these days. It was evident in 1994 when Sushmita Sen &
Aishwarya Rai bagged the Miss Universe & Miss World titles and worked
as international ambassadors for the peace and unity of the world.
International models like Dheetal Malhaar, Madhu Sapre and many more
have imparted recognition to India, meeting all international standards.
In the field of journalism, which is equally important too, names like
Tavleen Singh, Sucheta Dalal and Nalini Singh have a mark of their own.
They have convered and brought to light facts for the common man right,
from terrorist activities of Punjab to the election analysis and public view
about the Government, to the greatest scams like the one of Harshad
Mehta.
From pressure cooker to mobile phones, from shoes to cigarettes and
from cosmetics to gents undergarments, women are a common
ingredient, used by the advertisers in the recipe of ads.The media at large
seems to be so involved at sketching out the various characteristics of the
so-called modern woman, that little thought has been given to its ill-
impacts on the society. Being elaborative on the negative aspects of this,
its disheartening to see these models in semi-nude and see-through outfits
walking on the ramp or to see Madhu Sapre and Milind Soman nude &
entangled by a python and that too for a shoe ad. Here again in the name of
art it is the woman who is exploited. To express the fact, that a good
number of people got to fashion shows or to what a broken half-paisa worth
film, not because they understand art better or that they are passionate
about designer wears, but because they are obsessed by vulgarity and
cheap thinking. However, it's much more disheartening to agree with the
fact that even women agree to wear see-through outfits or dress semi-
nude or act in scenes, which the society in general considers to be out of
the bounds of decency.
Exploitation of women has become a common feature of most films and
film magazines like the Shekhar Kapoor directed “Bandit Queen”, where
the troubles and miseries of Phoolan Devi were less stressed as compared
to the vulgarities which the public was more interested in.
Even the talented actresses have acted in films where they were just mere
show-pieces or glamourous dolls. So you can imagine the plight of the
struggling actresses, aspiring for stardoms, who are exploited by the
producers promising them roles in the name of casting couch. After going
through all this, if they are successful well and godd, but most of them
being frustrated end up becoming extras or some many even end up
becoming prostitutes.
Lives of celebrities are taken as examples and so are certain professions
like films and advertising. In smaller towns of India, these models can
hardly be applied. The point is : Should we, the normal people who are not
celebrities, change our lifestyle to copy those who are featured in
magazines. There is noting wrong in being modern and to change with the
changing times. But is it necessary to ape the West?
