About The CEO…
• Anshuman is the CEO & co-founder of mygola.com. He co-
founded and sold his first startup (RightHalf.com) while in
undergrad at IIT Bombay, seeing it through the first boom & bust
on the internet. After his MBA at Stanford, he spent some time
selling solar lights in Vietnam and working with an Indian
Member of Parliament before returning to New York to work with
Deloitte, then Google. He moved to Bangalore a few years back to
get back to being an entrepreneur.

of destinations and dates from users and immediate
suggestions on each day plan.

What Anshuman did..
• He thought of building technology on top of existing innovations in
travel industry so that users get hotel recommendations from 1 place
and flight from other.
• He took 200+ users one on one interview and got feedback for his
prototype that it was too complex. “Why I cant have experience that of
a fiend where I ask and I get detailed personalized answer.”
• Build a technology platform that will basically aggregate tons of data
from the web and that’s the core IP of the company.
• Also if you find and give the right tools to people who are travel
enthusiasts then they can become definition experts for any place. They
recruit such people online and they go through online tests and
training and select 10%.
• 4000 such people now, who use our tools to do all the research.
Reasons..
He solved some hard tech problems:
1] Text-mining software that could parse the articles, extract
structure and guess the path taken by the traveler.
Eg:- A traveler might say that she had “sausages for breakfast in
my camper van” and ended up “in Wellington for a hearty meal“
Algorithms would interpret that to mean that they reached
Wellington for lunch, probably by driving, and then backtrack to
figure out what place they might have been 5-6 hours ago at
breakfast

• 2] Convert articles and structured iternaries into representation:
Eg:- NYTimes article
3] Users experience their destinations even before they get there,
design gives fullscreen photos a special place of pride
Algorithms go out and search creative-commons image databases
like flickr and Panoramio for pictures of the monument
They assign a probabilistic score and then do image analysis on the
shortlisted ones to see color saturation and composition, all
automatically. Even after this, we might be still left with 4-5
images.
Key differences
• Trip planning space is that Mygola has more pre-built itineraries covering more
of the globe than many other sites–nearly 5,000
• Other trip planners that use “big data” algorithms, but Mygola stands out in
seeding its entire foundation with such techniques.
• Mygola further refines content by using human curators that it hires through a
crowdsourcing marketplace.

• Mygola uses Rome2Rio’s API to suggest optimal routes and travel modes
• Good trip planning is a highly personalized experience like utrip.com
• Mygola has done an excellent job of providing attribution for the content it
gathers from the internet. Descriptions contain a short excerpt from the original
source followed by a link to the source. This is in contrast to some other sites
and apps I have examined.

• Mygola also offers personal travel consultations, for which it
charges modest fees
• Subscriptions:a user needs to sign up and pay 99$ for a full year for
unlimited travel planning or pay 30$ per trip

innovation & Enhancing the customer base
• Anshuman is chief product officer to bring back the startup zing
and focus on mobile strategies at its publicly-listed entity.

• Ibibo Group has over 50% of all its transactions on mobile.
• The contribution of travel and tourism to the global economy
is expected to rise to 10.5% by 2015 from 9.8% in 2014,
according to World Travel and Tourism Council.
• Mygola's acquisition is MakeMyTrip's seventh buyout and its
third takeover of an Indian company.
• Effortless access to information has changed the customer
mindset which prevents them to rely on any specific travel
company.
