9. SMART CITY MISSION
For the first time, a Challenge or Competition method is
going to be used to select cities for the disbursement of
funding Each of the 98 shortlisted cities are required to
prepare a Smart City Proposal (SCP) which will include a
vision for the city and the cities proposed smart area
based and pan-city projects. Further, the SCP will be
evaluated by the Government of India on the basis of
credibility, do-ability and citizen engagement.
And finally, the cities with the top scoring SCP will be
selected to receive funding from the Central
Government. The competition will span over 3 Rounds
Kalyan-Dombivli is participating in Round 2 of the Smart
Cities Challenge and the city intends to strengthen its
existing SCP with the help of the citizens.
