In Ephesians 3:14-21 Apostle Paul is praying that the believers in Ephesus will try to fathom the fullness and the riches found in Christ. Here, Paul is giving an example unto the believers of how a person is to act when praying unto God. Paul understood the importance of showing reverence during prayer in two ways, physically and spiritually. In the next portion of the paragraph, Paul is pleading with the people in Ephesus to try to understand the riches that a believer has when he or she is placed into the body of Christ. This section is somewhat of a summary and a conclusion to the first half of the entire book of Ephesians. The task of finding a principle that can be applied to today from this passage is simple. Each of the points under Paul’s prayer could be used as an application for believers today. Both the church of Ephesus and believers today are under the same covenant. I feel that American believers really associate themselves with the believers in Ephesus because of how economically rich they both are. The main principle in the entire passage is that believers should try to grasp the love and the riches that are given to them in salvation so that they may act righteously. There are three elements in this principle in order to apply it to a situation. First, believers should know the love of Christ. Secondly, believers should know the riches found in Christ and third, believers should know to act righteously.
