their tasks may be different; the
concept of work is more universal.

money. But according to
psychologist, Barry Schwartz,
it's NOT all about the
money. People work for a
variety of reasons--not just
money!!!!

• People work to share their talents
with the world. Work allows some
people to pursue their passions.
• Think about getting paid for doing
something that you enjoy doing. For
instance, a person who enjoys
research may choose a career, such as
a lawyer, journalist, or another career
that requires research.
• Workers who enjoy their work often
get lost completing their work tasks.

• Work can help people feel confident,
especially if they feel their work
is meaningful.
• Often, people think their work is meaningful
if they are making the world a better place.
• Work can provide people an opportunity to
provide goods or services that helps others.

So People Like Work, Right?
• Work can provide satisfaction!!!
• However, a 2013 Gallup report explained that there are twice as many
dissatisfied workers than satisfied workers. That's a lot of dissatisfied
workers.

some control, or autonomy, over
their work.
• They tend to be socially engaged at
work.
• Satisfied workers find their work to
be challenging and go past their
comfort zones.
