 High-resolution spatiotemporal density estimates of insect
population data is critical for the effectiveness of Integrated Pest
Management (IPM) in agriculture and Integrated Vector
Management (IVM) in global health.

 Determine where, when and how to intervene
 Understand how well interventions worked
 Identify resurgence or new invasion of pests or vectors

 Today’s surveillance is done with analog technology from the

THE INSECT CLASSIFIER
 Laser Bug Sensors will allow for real-time classification of flying
insects
 AI used to classify signal recorded from laser sensor; Bayesian
Classifier
 Recorders used to collect around 48 hours of data from insects
