contemporary dance, composing of morning technique class, repertory, partner work and an

3. sophie
and josh
it started with an
easter course…
Both born and bred in The East Midlands, Sophie Duncan and Joshua Ecob started
from humble beginnings, only considering dance as a poten?al career path at the
age of 14. Mee?ng at an Easter Intensive dance course in No<ngham, an instant
friendship was formed as the pair was selected to join No<ngham Youth Dance
Company, touring the Midlands and performing at world renowned Edinburgh
Fringe Fes?val, before both con?nuing onto voca?onal dance schools.
LONDON CONTEMPORARY DANCE SCHOOL
Sophie spent almost 4 years performing as a dancer
and acrobat with (arguably) one of the largest shows
on earth, Franco Dragone’s ‘The House of Dancing
Water’ in Macau, China. Currently performing for
Cirque Du Soleil’s ‘Scalada’ in Andorra, she recently
returned from Sweden with the
‘Gynoïdes’ - a female circus
troupe as a dancer and porter
and was an original cast
member on ‘POP Circus’ at
The Roundhouse, London.
Choreography credits
include, ‘COLUMBINUS’
and ‘To Sir With Love’
both with director
Horia Suru in Romania,
‘EPIDEMIC’ at The Old
Vic in London and solo
work ‘UNSOUND’.
KS DANCE
Joshua spent 2 years with Serbian Na?onal Theatre
Ballet, star?ng as corps de ballet then on to soloist
roles. He moved to The Serbian Na?onal Ballet,
under Director Bruce Steivel (ex New York City
Ballet) and in 2014 Joshua moved to
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Hercegovina to
dance for the Bosnian Na?onal
Ballet. Joshua is now based in
London and is currently dancing
for London Contemporary
Ballet Theatre. He has taught
and choreographed
interna?onally including
works for Midlands
Theatre Ballet, The
Serbian Na?onal Ballet
School and the ARS
Ballet and Arts Centre
Zenica, Bosnia.
In the few short years since gradua?ng from their respec?ve dance schools, Sophie and
Joshua have clocked up an extensive mileage in their careers, both working mostly
overseas as professional dancers, choreographers and teachers. Now 12 years since
their first mee?ng, the pair want to offer a program to inspire new dancers, new
choreographers and new friendships, back in the city where it all began.
