Who are we?
L8 Water Training Limited based in Scunthorpe but operate throughout the UK
What do we do?
We are an environmental consultancy
What does that mean?
We advise clients about the risks associated with their water and air systems
How do you advise?
We conduct surveys and produce reports based on our findings outlining what is required to be compliant with
Health & Safety legislation and guidance. Where failings or training issues are revealed as a direct result of
surveying, we then supply training to your company free, along with recommendations to rectify areas of the
system as part of the risk assessment process
Why do this?
Because when systems go un-managed they can become a hazard and those hazards become a risk to the
service users which have the capacity to endanger life
How can water ever be dangerous?
Water when heated or cooled to a particular temperature range can in some circumstances promote bacterial
proliferation. Should a set of specific chain of events link up, a person can contract a disease known as
‘Legionnaires’ disease’ where infected atoms of water through aerosol have been breathed into the lungs and
promote a pneumonia like illness which can in some circumstances be fatal
Do you find things wrong and then quote for those areas to be rectified?
No. We are impartial. We charge a fee for a risk assessment. We then pass our findings to the client in a clear,
unscientific report. It is up to the client to then decide who and how they wish to implement those changes to
be compliant with HSE guidance. If training was considered imperative then this would be provided free of
charge by L8 Water Training Ltd as part of our company policy
Am I breaking the law if I don’t use your services?
No. However, if it can be proved in a court of law that you have failed to protect anyone who has been
subjected to any part of your water systems or AHUs air supply, whether employee or public, and you have not
put into place the minimum necessary practices based on HSE guidance, a person or persons in high authority
will be held responsible and have to account for the reasons why they have not implemented a safety plan
based on their building and the systems attributed to it
What are the consequences then if say, it goes wrong?
Firstly and most importantly, it can result in loss of life. Materially, fines can range from £25,000 to Millions of
pounds. Companies can dissolve with the loss of revenue and livelihoods. For those whom are held
accountable, it can mean a custodial prison sentence under manslaughter.
Okay then, so how much will your services cost me?
Just Legionella Awareness & Responsible Person Training day course on its own is £275 plus VAT.
An average domestic building survey (which will include a day’s training if it is deemed necessary) will range
from £250 to £550. Larger buildings are costed comparative to size and type of systems.
For Air Ventilation Hygiene, AHU supplies and associated ductwork normally work out around £150 each which
would include samples.
