Low access to and continuity of physician care are issues for some New Brunswick residents with chronic conditions. Over 6% had low access (less than 3 doctor visits in 2 years) and 26% had low continuity (UPC index below 0.5). Low access was associated with less disease monitoring, preventative care, and higher mortality. Low continuity led to more hospitalizations and readmissions. Ensuring access to consistent primary care is important for health outcomes in New Brunswick.
