Day/Topic     Day- 2/ Origins of American values and concepts


 Objectives          SWBAT use the 5 senses to describe what freedom means
                     to them.
                     SWBAT compare and contrast their personal ideas about
                     freedom to the American concept of freedom.
                     SWBAT identify songs about freedom and pull out words
                     that are strongly linked to freedom and the American
                     concept of freedom.
Competencies         Students will be able to explain the origins of American
                     values and American concepts of courage, freedom,
                     equality, and justice.

  Agenda             1. Do Now: Close your eyes and imagine the word
                        freedom. What does it mean to you? What does
                        freedom sound, taste, and feel like? (5-6 sentences)
                     2. Use computers to look up a song and lyrics about
                        freedom. Analyze the song. What is the message?
                        What describing words does it use to paint a picture
                        of freedom?
                     3. Share and discuss, compare and contrast songs.
                     4. Begin John Adams.
