This document describes 7 types of comic transitions: moment to moment shows a slight change to the same subject; action to action shows a single subject doing something across panels; subject to subject moves between different scenes; scene to scene moves through time and/or space with a relation between panels; aspect to aspect establishes scenes without information on what happened; non-sequitur has no relation between panels but may make sense later; and comic transitions can include any of these types.
1. Moment To Moment This shows the
same subject,
person or object
with only a slight
change in the
second panel.
Action To Action This shows a single
subject or figure doing
something. For example,
someone hitting a ball,
poring a drink and
drinking it.
Subject To Subject This is where one scene
moves to another, for
example someone
running and someone
using a stop watch.
Scene To Scene
5 hours later..
This is where the
panels move through
time and/or space.
They always have a
relation or something
that makes sense.
Aspect To Aspect This is similar to
subject to subject.
Panels don’t give
information on whats
happened but used to
set the scene or
establish a scene.
Non - Sequitar There is no relation
with these panels. They
might built together in
the end of the comic
but it doesn’t make
sense itself.
