2. "Merchant Portraits"
"I don’t collect all posters. I generally collect
merchant posters because merchant posters
talk about a service, and the service talks
about a body, and that body talks about a
community, and that community talks about
many different conversations. So they’re very
different. I scan when I’m walking, I don’t
take every poster.“
-Mark Bradford
3. “Preamble”
This photograph is an excellent depiction of
variety that also represents a conversation. This
conversation is the Preamble of the United
States Constitution. It is written across multiple
license plates, representing the 50 states the
Preamble was written to protect and provide
direction for-a community, a state, and a
country.

4. "Egg"
I believe the artist did not include text
because he wanted to leave interpretation to
the viewer. It is possible the artist used this
image to reflect death as represented by the
color of the egg and the crack in the middle.
Alternatively, this image could also represent
change, as evidenced by the variance in color
and again, the crack, which could symbolize
transformation.

5. “Rebirth”
This image is a representation of my exit
from the United States Navy.
The previous egg was symbolic of my life
prior to entering into the Navy- broken and
unsure of life or my life’s purpose. However,
after years of training, I was given new shape
and new form, and departed from the
military a new and evolved “egg” with a solid
shell, prepared to meet life’s challenges
without cracks or blemishes.

6. “The Lifeboat”
"One of the amazing things about
art is that it changes every day, and
its meaning to you changes every
day. When I was young, it was really
a vehicle that gave me a sense of
self."
-Jeff Koons
7. “The Helping Hand”
This photograph is a representation of life.
When certain things happen in our lives, we
may often need a helping hand. Much like a
lifeboat, many times as average people, we
are knocked down or knocked around while
trying to do above average things. When
these adventures do not work out, or
become challenging, we need a different
direction, a different vehicle, or a different
perspective.
