Wallace L. Anderson presents Dialecticians,
March 23 – April 16/2015
Curated by Bryan Hopkins and in cooperation with the National Council of Education for the
Ceramic Arts 2015 Annual Conference in Providence, Rhode Island.
Ceramics show proves not all clay has to cost money
Who would have thought that clay could be found in your own backyard? Coming to the Wallace
Anderson Gallery March 23, Dialecticians will display a series of ceramic pieces made of clay of the artists’
own sourcing, focusing on the material foremost rather than process or final product. The artists include
Ingrid Bathe, Meredith Brickell, Bryan Hopkins, Tim Rowan, and Deborah Sigel. Bryan Hopkins curated this
exhibit.
Each artist has a unique vision, material, and technique. They have each created a cohesive series
that when placed with the other artists’ work will provide movement and a visual conversation. “They
challenge our hyper-mediated information obsessed, and perpetually distracted culture,” Tim Rowan says
of his work. “The objects are grounded in earth time yet speak to us now. They are of nature, not about
nature.”
The show is part of a larger exhibition collaborating with the National Council of Education for the
Ceramic Arts 2015 Annual Conference in Providence, Rhode Island. The Wallace Anderson Gallery is
proud to be a part of this annual show, and welcomes all to view the gallery Monday-Friday, 9-4pm.
