4. Purpose of study :
• This article discusses the management of intraosseous
mandibular ameloblastomas as the basis for a treatment
• An algorithm (pronounced AL-go-rith-um) is a procedure or
formula for solving a problem.
algorithm.

7. Different Treatment Modalities
Marginal / Segmental
Resection Enucleation Curettage Cryotherapy
Total Removal of
ameloblastoma :
resecting the superior
margin of the mandible
with preservation of the
mandibular base(
Marginal Resection ) .
Or, Total removal of the
mandible segment (
Segmental Resection )
Total Removal
( Extirpation )
without invading
any surrounding
structure
Shaving off some
of the surrounding
bone to eradicate
the tumor
Cryotherapy is
the application
of extreme cold
to destroy
abnormal or
diseased tissue

9. Patients and Methods
The records of 26 consecutive patients referred
for management of mandibular
ameloblastoma were reviewed.
Demographic data, location, number and types of prior
surgical treatment,
radiographic findings, number of recurrences,
and reconstructive methods used were analyzed.
