On 1st January 1928,
Hermann Klaeger,
Operations Manager at the Fortuna-
Werke in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, takes
over the hacksaw program which has
been in existence since 1905 and foun-
ded the Fortuna cold saw factory in
Stuttgart-Untertürkheim.
The young company is given the right to
continue using the name »fortuna« at
the handover.
Fortuna-Klaeger: this name positively he-
ralds the start of a new era.
History is again accommodated by way
of a new »fortuna« range.
Following a short boom period in 1928/
1929 the Klaeger company also feels the
effects of the global economic crisis. The
company overcomes this period through
technical innovations, hard work and
entrepreneurial skill. A steady period of
growth follows which is, however, inter-
rupted by the difficulties of the wartime
period.
Following the death of the company’s
founder, Hans Klaeger assumes ma-
nagement of the company and, thanks to
energetic support from the employees,
manages to build the company up again
in spite of all the difficulties of the post-
war period. The company is able to
successfully build on its good reputation
from before the war. Thousands of
Klaeger saws are sold around the world.
In 1979 the company Klaeger Präzision
is founded by Hans Klaeger with the 2nd
managing director Erhard Jost.
In the 1980s Klaeger manufactures more
than 600 machines each year. Wolfram
Klaeger , grandson of the company’s
founder becomes managing director in
1987, carrying on the company’s success
story. Klaeger builds the new manufactu-
ring and assembly plant in Kernen-
Rommelshausen near Stuttgart in order
to meet increasing demand and keep up
with further technical developments.
The company celebrates its 75th anniver-
sary in 2003 with premium quality band-
saws and fully-automatic bandsaw
machines now the focus for develop-
ment and production for some time.
More and more focus is now placed on
exports.
In 2008 the long-established company is
80 years old and production runs at more
than 800 saw and bending machines a
year.
The year is now 2011: fortuna and
pharos automatic saw machines plus
actron and bitron semi-automatic saw
machines with specially developed and
self-built controls display the high level
of Swabian mechanical engineering.
The internal structure and organisation
is also being continuously improved with
the constant aim of being a worthy
partner to customers.
»We must never lose sight of the quality
aim«, that is the creed both for manage-
ment and employees in equal measure.
Ultra-modern and conscious of tradition,
innovative and grounded in its roots,
these are the very characteristics that a
wide range of customers expects from
Klaeger, from metal workers to compo-
nent manufacturers through to car and
aircraft manufacturers, shipbuilders and
energy companies.
