How MoCDA is Utilizing Member Input
Over the past year, MoCDA has been evaluating our events and
programs to ensure our membership feel engaged and
connected. We wanted to express to all our members how we
are utilizing your input to make a difference.
Regional Representatives
MoCDA recently created Regional Representatives positions to
assist in fostering local relationship-building among career
development professionals throughout the state. Regional reps
work in collaboration with the MoCDA Connections Committee to
share regional, state, and national news and events and help to
organize and promote opportunities for professional
development and networking within the region. Regional reps
are organized into six regions:
Northern - still recruiting
Central - Jennifer Davis: University of Missouri
St. Louis - Marcie Schumert: Webster University
Kansas City - Jonnae Hill: Rockhurst University
& Diane Schmidt: Jewish Family Services
Southeast - Renelle Theard: Missouri College Advising Corps
Southwest - still recruiting

Call for Nominations
Greetings from the Missouri Career Development Association (MoCDA):
It is time for MoCDA elections! We invite you consider how a role as a MoCDA leader fits
with your professional development plans. Our organization leaders say that getting
involved in MoCDA has helped them to learn, network, and get more than expected out of
MoCDA membership. Leadership exposes you to new ideas, practices, and professionals –
and it’s fun! Our organization relies on you, our members, to contribute your valuable
talent and time to make us great. Time commitment averages 2-6 hours per month,
depending on the position.
Per the organization’s by-laws, elections will be held each year during the month of March
with all ballots being submitted by April 1. A call for nominations with instructions for
submission will be sent in January each year. Elected offices include that of Secretary,
Treasurer, and President-Elect. The term of officers is from May 1 through April 30 each
year.
We are currently welcoming nominations for the roles of:

Please submit nominations to Ivy Hutchison, Past-President and Chair of the Elections
Committee, by Friday, February 23, 2018.
If you are nominating yourself (which I encourage you to do!), please include a resume

NCDA Career Convergence is Collecting Articles
Career Convergence is currently collecting article submissions from interested
authors. Their goal is to find out what unique things are happening in higher ed
career centers, in K-12, in counselor education, workplaces, and so forth.
Their article submission guidelines are located
at https://www.ncda.org/aws/NCDA/pt/sp/CC_submissions and answers most of
the questions concerning formatting, length, and overall guidelines.
If you are interested in submitting articles, you can contact Kristy Magee with any
questions or ideas you have. Submitting an article doesn't necessarily guarantee
publication, however, it's a great way to start the conversation with their team
and get ideas out there and be recognized for best practices. Feel free to check
their recent articles published in Career Convergence.
