Webster Bank
All-Employee Meeting
“We Find A Way – Everyday”
Oakdale – Wallingford, CT
GENERAL SESSION
The attendees enter the auditorium to the sound of dynamic, uplifting walk-in
music, playing over the sound system. The stage is dark, and our “We find a Way
– Every Day” theme graphic dominates the projection screens.
As the crowd settles, the music fades. A single spotlight comes on center stage
and our announcer chimes in.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Jim Calhoun!”
Jim enters and walks to center stage to thundering applause. He takes a bow,
then goes to the podium, stage left

Jim Calhoun: Welcome! I am so glad to see such a great turn out. You are all in

There is an exciting event planned for you tonight,

is
(seems to be searching for the word)
JEB: Focused?
JOSH: Dedicated?
TOBY: Committed?
Sam: Well, yeah. Kinda like that.
LEO: Frankly, Sam Webster is all about Finding a Way every day
 the way that
helps our customers reach their financial goals
 PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
2
SAM: EVERY DAY ???
LEO, JOSH, TOBY, JEB: Yes, EVERY DAY !!!!
LEO: Whether it is business, credit, investment, checking, online services --- WE

break out of this to speak to Sam

JOSH: It is about providing financial solutions that promote our customer’s
financial well being.
TOBY: It is about competitive spirit; the absolute dedication of every employee

OUR WILL TO WIN!
JEB: “WE” are the WE in We Find A Way
and we do it every day!
Cast members then break out into a re-lyric’ed version of the Otis Redding
classic, “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay”

Driving in the morning sun
I’ll be working when the evening comes
Watching customers logging in
Then I watch them log back in again
I’m

Committed to Finding a Way
To make Webster better today
I know we will find a way
Every day
3
I left my house in Hartford
Headed for the Bridgeport Bay
Giving service customers count on
Serving client needs is the Webster way
So I’m just

Committed to find a way
To make Webster better today
I know we will find a way
Every day
Polite, courteous tellers making change
Small business loan officers doin' the same
I can do what ten clients tell me to do
So I guess you will do the same
Yes, I’m standin here on my cell phone
Webster clients won’t leave me alone
It’s one hundred miles I roam
Just to make these branches my home
Now I’m just

Committed to find a way
To make Webster better today
I know we will find a way
Every day
(Applause)
Sam: Yeah, I get it! It takes Commitment!
Leo: Takes more than that, Sam. It also takes Vision.
4
Sam: OK. But how do we get the vision?
(The other four chime in at once, improvising in Swing style harmony
)
The Vision, The Vision! Who’s got the Vision?!
Here to share the Vision is the voice from the top! Bop!
He’s gonna say why Webster is the cream of the crop! Bop!
So make your own decision,
He’s gonna share the Vision

Here’s Jim Smith!!!!!
Jim Smith - THE VISION
After this rather unexpected introduction, Jim enters and crosses to the lectern.
He outlines the corporate vision and the Bank’s 5-year growth plan. He discusses
the spirit of We Find a Way, Everyday – and why the Webster Way values are so
important in today’s business climate. (Highlights include NYSE listing.)
Jim closes with “And it’s because of you
you make it happen. Let’s hear from
some of our own employees who find a way – Everyday.”
Rockapella re-enters, this time in the house. The five vie for Jim’s attention

TOBY: Hey, Jim! Retail knows how to find the way
JOSH: Commercial does to. Right here!
LEO: Jim, What about insurance? We got it goin’ on!!
5
Jim Smith: OK, Let’s hear about it!
FIELD SUCCESS STORIES
Jim calls out the name of an employee team in the house, whose been pre-selected
and seated in advance. The Rockapella member who represents their Business Unit
has the team leader spotted, and brings a microphone to him or her. Jim then asks
the person to relate their team’s success story to the rest of the audience, which they
do with pleasure. Jim does this for each of the teams, which might include HPC,
Bushnell, or Plainville.
After the testimonials, Jim wraps his remarks and exits.
Rockapella can then introduce Bill Bromage in their own inimitable style, or we
can go to a VOG announcement.
Bill Bromage – EXECUTING THE PLAN
Bill adds a note of dimension to the corporate strategy. He will highlight some of
the 2003 plans, and asks the employees to dedicate themselves to the Webster
mission. He tells us that each business line has a role to play, and with that, he
wraps his remarks and introduces the video

VIDEO: Biz Line Heads expressing their goals, strategies and we find a way
spirit.
To include: Peter Mulligan, Candy Fitzek, Joe Savage, Bruce Wolfe,
John Q, Ross Strickland, Jeff Brown (IT)
The end of the video reveals Rockapella once again on stage. They begin a
dialogue scene where Sam, the new guy is complaining about his problem in
solving a client’s particular difficulty, (we would like to base this on a real or
realistic incident, if Webster can supply us with a few "War Stories" from the field,
it would make the scene much more impactful. The other for tell him he has to
find a way, using brief problem-solving success stories from each of the business
lines as examples.
6
Suddenly, one of the guys breaks off into an African chant-like melody . Sam
looks at him quizzically. The chant then resolves into their own version of “The
Lion Sleeps Tonight”, which the others take up

Every day, we find a way!
We find a way!
We find a way!
Every customer’s needs are different and
We will find a way. (Repeat)
Every day, we find a way!
We find a way!
We find a way!
When their business confronts new challenges
We will find a way. (Repeat)
Every day, we find a way!
We find a way!
We find a way!
When they’ve sighted the home they’ve dreamed of
We will find a way. (Repeat)
Every day, we find a way!
We find a way!
We find a way!
When they’re struggling to grow their business
We will find a way. (Repeat)
Every day, we find a way!
We find a way!
We find a way!
7
When they’re planning a safe retirement
We will find a way. (Repeat)
Every day, we find a way!
We find a way!
We find a way!
Every customer’s needs are different and
we will find a way.
Right beside them, a hand to guide them,
With them all the way!
Every day, we find a way!
We find a way!
We find a way!
LEO: You get the idea, Sam? It’s all about putting the customer first, building
their loyalty in the Webster brand.
SAM: Brand? But we’re a bank, not car company.
TOBY: Man, this guy needs some info!
JEB: Sam, we’ve got just the guy to help you out.
At this point, Rockapella could improvise an introduction tune for Jeff Brown,
maybe to the tune of George Gershwin’s “Strike Up The Band”

Wipe away that frown!
When we hear Jeff Brown,
We’ll be down with the sound!
Psych up the brand!

 or
maybe we’ll just have the VOG do it.
8
Jeff Brown – THE BRAND
Jeff comes to the podium. He discusses the brand, a people based strategy focused
on our customers (go the extra mile), our colleagues (collegial partnerships), our
competition (dedication to win in the marketplace). As a part of his presentation, he
will introduce Webster’s new TV spots.
BACK OFFICE SUCCESS STORIES
After the TV Spots, we return to Jeff on stage. He begins to talk about Webster’s all-
important Back Office Employees. During this time, the Rockapella members have
found their way out into the house, and have positioned themselves by two or three
Back Office Teams. As we did with Jim Smith, Rockapella will call the teams out for
Jeff Brown’s attention, and Jeff will ask each to relate their story, which they’ll do with
pleasure. Jeff comments on their stories, then wraps his remarks. As he exits,
Rockapella returns to stage.
LEO: Looks like you’re getting the picture, there, Sam. Finding the way is all
about customer focus.
TOBY: No, it’s more than that, Lee. We’re talkin’ about partnerships with our
colleagues!
JEB: You guys are way off. It’s all about winning! You know, that dedication to
come out on top. each time, every time.
SAM: I dunno. That’s all really important, but I still think there’s something
missing.
JOSH: Huh!?
SAM: It’s a great strategy. A whole new way of doing business

LEO: Yeah?
SAM: But how do you make it tick?
9
JEB: Oh, that. That’s easy. The people.
SAM: Huh?!
LEO: Don’t worry. We’ve got just the guy to lay it out for you.
At this point the guys can break into an improvised intro sting for Patrick Murphy,
or the VOG could bring him to stage.
Patrick Murphy – THE PEOPLE
Patrick Murphy comes to stage. He discusses Webster’s People Based Strategy, telling
the employees that “YOU are the WE in We Find a Way”. He segues into the
“Volunteer of the Year Award”, and introduces the Winners. The winners will come to
stage to great applause. All will be spot—lit, and I-Mag’ed on the screens. They can be
brought to stage with an exciting recorded music sting, or a live improvisation by
Rockapella. When all the winners are on stage, Jim Smith will come to stage to help
congratulate them all.
To help in the celebration, Rockapella would then perform a celebrational number based
on the Motown classic, “Dancin in the Street”

You’re the way we find the way.
You’ make all of Webster’s plans complete.
You move right in to help us win.
In all the places we compete.
All over New Haven! Up in Hartford too!
All through Waterbury! How ‘bout that Westport crew!
Webster’s got the people! All the people
To do it every day!
Your determination, at every station
Helps Webster find the way!
10
You’re the way we find that way.
You’re committed to our plans and goals.
With a steady will you prove your skill
At navigating through uncertain shoals.
Way down in Stamford! In New Britain town!
All the way up in Windsor! There and all around!
Webster’s got the spirit! So let’s hear it!
We do it every day!
Your determination, at every station
Helps Webster find the way!
After the award presentations, Patrick Murphy, Rockapella, and the Winners leave the
stage. Jim Smith will remain to re-introduce our Guest Speaker, Jim Calhoun.
Jim Calhoun – THE TEAM JOURNEY
Coach Calhoun makes his remarks.
CLOSE – Jim Smith
After Coach Calhoun’s remarks, Jim Smith returns to congratulate him, and to summarize
the highlights of the evening. He is interrupted by a sudden entrance by Rockapella.
FINALE
LEO: Jim! Jim! Great! We’re glad you’re still here!
11
Jim: Uh guys, this is it. I mean, the meeting’s just about over. What are you
doing here?
JEB: Sure Jim, but we just gotta tell you. We are really psyched about 2003, We
are ready to get out there and find that way.
Jim: Well, that’s great guys, but

TOBY: Absolutely! I mean Sam here is all fired up. Isn’t that right, Sam.
SAM: Huh?! Oh, right Jim. You bet!
Jim: OK?
..
LEO: As a matter of fact we are all just ready to Rock and Roll in 2003!
Jim: Excellent! Well, guys
 it’s time to

JOSH: But we need your help to find the way, Jim.
Jim: What?!!
The guys then break into a rousing closing number based on the classic “Old Time
Rock & Roll”
SAM: How is Webster gonna find the way?
Well, just listen to what I say!
All those other banks’ll jump in a hole
When they see Webster Rock & Roll!
GUYS: When they see Webster Rock & Roll
Our success’ll shake ‘em down to their soul!
So nail your banner to the highest pole!
Let’s get out there and Rock & Roll!
Jim Smith: We’ve got what it takes to succeed!
12
Helping customers, fulfilling their needs!
Building partnerships with young and old!
That’s the Webster brand of Rock & Roll.
GUYS: When they see Webster Rock & Roll
Our success’ll shake ‘em down to their soul!
So nail your banner to the highest pole!
Let’s get out there and Rock & Roll!
Jim & Guys: When they see Webster Rock & Roll
Our success’ll shake ‘em down to their soul!
So nail your banner to the highest pole!
Let’s get out there and Rock & Roll!
With the Audience:
When they see Webster Rock & Roll
Our success’ll shake ‘em down to their soul!
So nail your banner to the highest pole!
Let’s get out there and Rock & Roll!
As the number progresses, the performers and audience will be I-Mag’ed on one
screen while a list of the employees who participated in the WFAW stories are
flashed on the other, with their achievements incorporated into each image.
Lights flash the audience, all the employees are singing and clapping their hand
to the rhythm, and the song and meeting end on a note of excitement and triumph.
