Lead Cataloger
• Catalogs all materials that come into the library, including all formats and all languages, averaging over 400 items per
month.
• Collaborates with other departments on various projects, including the reclassification of the youth department’s
nonfiction collections, the audiovisual department’s sound recording collection, and the adult services department’s
science fiction and fantasy collection, to improve search and retrieval experience for library patrons.
• Successfully cataloged the Highland Park Historical Society’s collection of nearly 300 books after it was added to the
library.
• Maintains the catalog, ensuring that relevant records remain in the system, errors get corrected, and older, less
complete records are enhanced to higher standards.
• Helps create cataloging policy and instruction manuals for the training of new catalogers.
• Supervises the Technical Services Department when the manager is absent.
