Duties and Responsibilities as a Director
 Identifies and resolves issues and provides clients with technical solutions to
their tax related business problems.
• Prepares answers to client’s queries on tax issues through written
opinions and suggestions;
• Analyzes tax implications of major investment decisions such as
mergers and acquisitions and other business transactions;
• Reviews the tax aspect of major contracts such as joint venture
agreements, sales/lease contracts, royalty agreements, and software
licensing agreements;
• Assists financial auditors in resolving tax issues affecting financial
statements.
 Ensures that work products are accurate and thorough so that Tax Partner
needs only perform a cursory review.
• Reviews the work of Supervisors and ensure that proper procedures
were followed and the client’s industry-specific tax issues were
properly addressed;
• Directly handles high risk engagements, high value clients and
engagements with tight deadlines.
 Supervises Supervisors.
 Liaises with the tax authorities and provides clients with advices on matters
involving tax assessments, claim for refund, and compliance with
administrative requirements.
 Reviews income tax returns prepared by clients and financial auditors for
income tax accrual purposes.
 Review clients’ tax position, practices, and procedures to determine
whether they comply with the tax laws, rules and regulations.
 Resolves tax issues encountered during the tax review.

• Reviews the work of Staff and ensure that proper procedures were

 Liaises with the tax authorities and provides clients with advices on matters
involving tax assessments, claim for refund, and compliance with

Jobs Handled
• Business Tax Compliance Services
Review of the calculation of clients’ tax liabilities and assist in the
preparation of the related tax returns. Monitors that taxes are properly
remitted and tax returns are duly submitted to the Bureau of Internal
Revenue within the prescribed period of filing. Taxes covered in these
engagements include income tax, value added tax, expanded
withholding tax, final withholding tax, withholding tax on compensation
and fringe benefits tax.
• Tax Compliance Review
Diagnostic review of clients’ tax position, practices, and procedures to
determine whether they comply with the tax laws, rules and regulations.
Identify clients’ tax exposures and institute corrective action before an
examination by the tax authorities. Taxes covered in these engagements
include all national and local taxes.
• Tax Due Diligence Review/Agreed-Upon Procedures
Extensive tax compliance review that covers all the material taxes to
which a company is liable. The primary objective is to identify and
quantify the possible tax exposures of a company for all the years open
to examination by the tax authorities. This is usually done to a company to
be acquired, or in preparation for the initial public offering of stocks.
• Contract Review
Evaluation of the tax implications of contracts executed by clients with
other entities as well as the recommendation of tax-efficient alternatives.
• Independent CPA Report Work
Examination, evaluation and auditing of clients’ receipts and invoices to
determine the accuracy of the clients’ claim for refund or tax credit. This
is part of the Court of Tax Appeals’ (CTA) requirement to issue an
independent CPA report to attests to the correctness of the tax amount
being claimed for a refund or tax credit by a client.

Duties and Responsibilities as a Senior Associate  Identifies and resolves issues and provides clients with technical solutions to their tax related business problems. • Prepares answers to client’s queries on tax issues through written opinions and suggestions; • Analyzes tax implications of major investment decisions such as mergers and acquisitions and other business transactions; • Reviews the tax aspect of major contracts such as joint venture agreements, sales/lease contracts, royalty agreements, and software licensing agreements; • Involved in dealing with the tax studies of cross-border transactions, the interpretation of international tax treaties and other international tax issues brought up by multinational companies; • Assists financial auditors in resolving tax issues affecting financial statements.  Ensures that work products are accurate and thorough so that Tax Managers and Partner needs only perform a cursory review. • Reviews the work of Staff and ensure that proper procedures were followed and the client’s industry-specific tax issues were properly addressed; • Directly handles high risk engagements, high value clients and engagements with tight deadlines.  Supervises Staff.  Liaises with the tax authorities and provides clients with advices on matters involving tax assessments, claim for refund, and compliance with administrative requirements.  Reviews income tax returns prepared by clients and financial auditors for income tax accrual purposes.  Review clients’ tax position, practices, and procedures to determine whether they comply with the tax laws, rules and regulations.  Resolves tax issues encountered during the tax review.  Accompanies Tax Managers and Partner in discussions with clients.  Examines and evaluates the clients’ receipts and invoices to determine the accuracy of the clients’ claim for refund or tax credit as part of the Court of Tax Appeals requirement. Jobs Handled • Business Tax Compliance Services Review of the calculation of clients’ tax liabilities and assist in the preparation of the related tax returns. Monitors that taxes are properly remitted and tax returns are duly submitted to the Bureau of Internal Revenue within the prescribed period of filing. Taxes covered in these engagements include income tax, value added tax, expanded withholding tax, final withholding tax, withholding tax on compensation and fringe benefits tax. • Tax Compliance Review Diagnostic review of clients’ tax position, practices, and procedures to determine whether they comply with the tax laws, rules and regulations. Identify clients’ tax exposures and institute corrective action before an examination by the tax authorities. Taxes covered in these engagements include all national and local taxes.
  • 4. • Tax Due Diligence Review/Agreed-Upon Procedures Extensive tax compliance review that covers all the material taxes to which a company is liable. The primary objective is to identify and quantify the possible tax exposures of a company for all the years open to examination by the tax authorities. This is usually done to a company to be acquired, or in preparation for the initial public offering of stocks. • Contract Review Evaluation of the tax implications of contracts executed by clients with other entities as well as the recommendation of tax-efficient alternatives. • Independent CPA Report Work Examination, evaluation and auditing of clients’ receipts and invoices to determine the accuracy of the clients’ claim for refund or tax credit. This is part of the Court of Tax Appeals’ (CTA) requirement to issue an independent CPA report to attests to the correctness of the tax amount being claimed for a refund or tax credit by a client. • Audit Support Jobs Auxiliary jobs such as income tax accrual review and deferred income tax review prior to submission of income tax returns, review of tax-related controls, tax updates and assistance in other tax related matters.
