Positive Train Control (PTC) - This project was a large scale, control center system which
required the full Agile/scrum software development life cycle and utilized C/C++ and XML in
a Linux Redhat/CentOS environment. My responsibilities included building and maintaining
XML, binary and ASCII based message structures, schemas and Oracle database files, and
developing unit test code for message transfer over Class D multicast addressing protocol
and Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP).
Additionally, I was responsible for fixing and tracking software bugs, building XML scripts to
test a Java-based GUI, drafting technical design documents and configuring and installing
Linux virtual machines on Windows machines using VMWare Player and VMWare
Workstation.
WMATA – The Washington Metro Area Transit Authority Silver Line project was a large
scale control system requiring Agile and scrum development and software and database
development in the Windows environment using Oracle and SQL. I gained experience
maintaining real-time and relational Oracle databases using SQL Developer, modifying user
graphical interfaces with internal graphics software, delivering a complete software
installation to a real-time rail system, tracking and fixing software bugs, configuring protocol
logic controllers with the Genisys and MODBUS protocols and interfacing with customers,
fellow engineers and project SMEs.
