Corporate Rebranding
as Vistra Energy
award, which recognizes mines with the “best safety records
in the country – which means they are also among the safest
mines in the world,” according to the National Mining
Association. The award is given to mines with the most
employee hours without a lost-time injury. The recognition is
also the oldest established honor for occupational safety and
was created in 1925 by then-Secretary of Commerce and
future President Herbert Hoover.
The team achieved their first Sentinels of Safety Award in
2013 for working approximately 620,000 hours without a lost-
time injury. Three Oaks Mine is Luminant’s first mine to receive
the award.
