The Carillion Anfield Project Team, were recently approached through their
existing links, to carry out some redecoration works for The Brunswick Club Youth
& Community Centre to prepare their sports hall for a charity dinner.
The Brunswick Club in North Liverpool supports persons under 25 years through
leisure time activities to develop their physical and spiritual capabilities so that
they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society. It is also
home of the Jamie Carragher Football Academy.
The Club have recently had their funding cut and through Jamie Carragher,
arranged a charity dinner in their sports hall. The hall was in desperate need of
painting prior to the dinner which is where Carillion were able to help them out.
Michael Cannon who is on a voluntary work placement with Carillion on the
project volunteered to project manage the works. Michael carried out scope of
works and managed to get all the materials needed donated. He then arranged a
group of volunteers to carry out the works.
In total, Michael arranged 86 volunteer hours using 15 volunteers to carry out the
works.
The Club were extremely pleased with the work that was carried out and Steve
Hobson from the Club commented “On behalf of the Brunswick we just wanted to
say a massive thank you to you and the team of volunteers who came down to the
centre to paint. The team managed to get more done then we could have hoped
for, and I think more then anyone expected. It's made a big difference, it's really
brightening the centre up”.
