Deputy Chief, East Regional Operations Bureau April 2008 to January 2014
The East Regional Operations Bureau is responsible for providing emergency services for 33
cities including the unincorporated areas of the central and south/east portion of Los Angeles
County. The Bureau is also responsible for the leadership & management of 4 operational
divisions, 1,500 personnel, 10 battalions, 76 fire stations, 9 and a service/supply budget
approximately $20 million.
Deputy Chief, Special Operations Bureau April 2004 to March 2008
The Special Operations Bureau is responsible for leadership & management of multiple
administrative support functions of the Fire Department’s mission of: prompt, skillful, and
cost effective service delivery. With over 200 personnel and an annual service/supply budget
of approximately $50 million. There are two divisions within the bureau, the Technical
Services and Command & Control Divisions. The specific components of these two divisions
included: dispatch center, radio communications, county interoperability, wireless
technologies, GIS, mapping, etc. All department in-service training as well as recruit training,
homeland security, Federal, State and local grant management, training program
development, hazardous materials program, urban search & rescue program to include
California Task Force 2 that included: international and domestic response and deployments,
emergency medical services, and the department’s wellness fitness programs.
