Each year in the US, approximately 107 out of every 10,000 workers experience non-fatal occupational injuries resulting in over 1.1 million missed work days for recovery. The most common injuries are muscle sprains, strains and tears, accounting for nearly half of all missed work day cases. These injuries often occur when a job's physical demands exceed a worker's capacity and affect those in roles involving repetitive motions, heavy lifting, awkward postures or high physical exertion. Occupational medicine practitioners are in high demand to treat such occupational injuries.
