2. Origin of the Trombone?
• Sackbut - A French term, sacquer, “to draw out.” the English
used to describe a type of trombone from the Renaissance
and Baroque eras
• The word “trombone” has meant variously trumpet or large
trumpet in German and Italian. Replaced the Sackbut in the 17th
century
