Gamekeeping was founded on May 1, 1777 by Don Antonio de la Torre and
Miranda, who moved to its current location on the right bank of the Sinu River
and named it San Jeronimo de Buenavista.

on the site of the camps, so named for being the meeting place of the hunters
who hunted in the surrounding area.
